I am glad we arrived before dark. The rain was pelting harder and harder so we decided to stay put until supper. We were shown all the rooms and settled our bags. The old house was a maze. Rooms were of decent size but halls were narrow and stairs were steep. In the common room the TV was always on and there was too much furniture to edge around. It was formal with flowers but not real ones. Not a place for kids. The hostess was at turns effusively friendly then fault-finding. We would ask about something and she would say, "yes", then she would make comments to some of the other guests. We had a comfortable sleep but showers were often scalding to cold and there was a lot of dust. The rooms were way too warm the first night perhaps to keep off the dampness. One of the rooms downstairs had wet carpets. The breakfast was nice the first morning but the second morning seemed to be leftover. She offered other guests pancakes but said there were too many in our group for her to make us pancakes. The grounds were unkempt giving the place a bit of a ragged appearance. While overall we were comfortable physically there were elements that made us feel a bit uneasy and we decided not to go back another year.
