“Just plain fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2014

We went to the aerodrome last weekend for the World War 1 air show. It was a blast. There is a story that goes along with show, hokey as it is but quite funny. The announcer is great but the real stars are the planes. You sit right along the runway and see some amazing planes take off and land. Some of the stunts are amazing. Most of the flying planes are replicas but exact to the nth degree, but they have originals there too. Along with the old cars, trucks and motorcycles, it is a real feast. The only thing that we couldn't do was take a ride on an old mail plane, that will be next time.

“Don't Delay going to the Rhinebeck Aerodrome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2014

A not-to-be-missed experience. The museum is chock-full of aviation history (and getting a guided tour is nice-nominal extra fee). The highlight is the air show. Although the air show "story" might be considered hokey, it is a lot of fun and is a great way to keep things rolling as you watch these amazing aircraft take off and land - and do tricks. The announcer does a great job telling you about each craft. There are some fun antics and some cool other old vehicles rounding out the afternoon. If you have a bit of extra money, the $75 per person ride up in a biplane is super-cool.
Heads-up - the outdoor cafe takes cash only. Expect the air show to take almost 2 hours. The seats for the air show are simple wood planks resting on cut logs. They were ok - the ones in the back are in the shade! - but bring a blanket if you want extra padding or bring your own chairs. Bring a camera! And sit opposite the buildings on the field that are part of the show - the best view of all the action. The "nice" bathrooms are in the museum next to the museum store. There are port-a-potties elsewhere. From where you park you have to cross the road (not a problem) to buy your tickets, but then cross back over, go through the parking lot, and up a somewhat steep hill which may be difficult for some people. And then you go back down the hill, through the parking lot and then into the air show area. There are some cool hangers with stuff to look at along the air show field...but there is a bit of walking involved overall, and some inclines.

“Great museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2014

This museum is very interesting. It has many old cars and planes from the 1930's and earlier. Also many other historical items. You can get a ride in an old plane for $75 a person. We were not there during the weekend, which is unfortunate, because they have aerial shows then.

“An amazing glimpse into another era of flight!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2014

The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome is not to be missed! No where else can you see such a colleciton of old "war bird" airplanes. Take the ride of a lifetime in a bi-plane - an experience you won't forget with amazing views of the Hudson River and surrounding area. The on-site Museums and hangers are very interesting and unique. This stop should definitely be on your adventure list.

“Hasn't changed in 45years; in a good way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

Flew in to nearby Kingston airport. A quick 12 minute taxi left us at the Aerodrome and
it was just as we remembered it to be. My bother and I had been here as children and my husband who is a pilot ,and had never been here took the trip on a beautiful sunday.
Charming and not too glossy and an obvious labor of love.
Wether you are into aviation or not put this on your NY state to do list.
The air show is fun beautiful and slightly cornet and everyone in all age brackets seemed to be enjoying
