“Eclectic, Kitsch and Charm”

Very nice folks, welcoming and eager to please. Comfortable place, well located and clean. Much more enjoyable than the chain hotels , but you pay for the privilege. The decor is unusual, but charming as an ensemble. Works for me. The traffic during the Fair is awful, but can be avoided. Walking to town is wonderful and I would recommend this accommodation and the restaurant down the street.

Room Tip: Enjoy the porch

The Red Hook Inn literally "took me in" very late one evening, without a reservation and it was truly my "home away from home" during my visit to nearby Bard College. On previous visits, I stayed at the well-known chains that are further away. They were fine, but lacking in any warmth or personal connection. On the other hand, the proprietors of the Red Hook Inn -- Pat and Nabil -- provided a warm welcome, a personal touch, superb food, and gracious surroundings. On this trip, the Inn provided everything I needed and more -- unexpected but most welcome personal hospitality. Pat and Nabil obviously love what they do and they do it very well.

Our family stay at the Red Hook in was a treat for everyone in our family. We all loved the incredible breakfasts and the relaxed warmth of our hosts, Pat and Nabil. My younger son had a wonderful time exploring and roaming the back yard, and getting to hold a freshly-laid chicken egg. My teenage son loved that the location on the main street of Red Hook let him go out and explore the town on his own. And my husband and I loved it all of it. The family suite was perfect for us - small, but with two separate rooms, very comfortable and nicely decorated. We'd love to go back, and we recommend it highly.

My daughter and I booked at this Inn at the last minute using hotels.com. We were delightfully surprised by the comfort and spaciousness of the room and the friendliness of Pat and Nabil, our hosts. The breakfast was amazing, too! Turns out that Nabil is a classically-trained saucier and the hollandaise sauce he prepared on our eggs florentine was fantastic! The Inn is very comfortable and is located on the Main Street in Red Hook, so you can walk from there to many shops, restaurants, etc. I highly recommend this Inn for a relaxing night's stay.

My husband and I are in our mid 80's and for us the Red Hook Inn was perfect. Our stay was in conjunction with the Bard College Summer Festival which was a few minutes away from the Inn and which justified our highest expectations. And, although the Inn is on the busy main street in Red Hook, our Inn experience rounded out a lovely three night vacation. Our host and hostess were entirely gracious, pleasant and considerate. Our front room offered every comfort: extremely comfortable beds, a stool for getting into the high bed, a spacious and well equipped bathroom, two good sitting chairs, and miracle of miracles in an old house, everything worked: excellent quiet air conditioning, excellent plumbing, excellent TV, good lighting and absolute quiet at night with windows closed and air conditioning fan on. The room was immaculately clean with plenty of towels etc.
And although there was a spacious sitting area in the Inn, we were delighted to discover the screened in gazebo in back with comfortable wicker chairs and tables: a pleasant place to read, play chess, relax....And breakfast each morning was a special treat....There were choices if you didn't want eggs, but who could resist the delicious Eggs Benedict ? And ripe fresh fruit, and then on Sunday there was a crepe with English custard sauce as an appetizer. Although the Inn does serve dinner if arranged in advance, we ate each evening in nearby Rhinebeck where there are many first rate restaurants....altogether a lovely vacation. We will return next summer during Bard's Summer Festival.

Room Tip: Rooms in rear away from main street would be quieter when windows can be open. Our front room was fi...

The Red Hook Country Inn and the charming little village of Red Hook,NY were an interesting change for us when visiting Dutchess County recently. We have been making a pilgrimage to the FDR Home and Library just about once a year for the past several years. Customarily, we stay in Rhinebeck, which is a lovely, larger, upscale town, a few miles south of Red Hook, but this time we wanted to try something different. Red Hook has interesting shops and some really good cafes. It has more of a college town vibe than Rhinebeck.

Red Hook is still an easy trip to FDR's home and Eleanor Roosevelt's Val-KIll cottage as well as many other attractions such as the Vanderbilt Mansion and the Culinary Institute of America. In addition, for the first time, we finally visited Olana, the home of the painter Frederick Church located north of Red Hook, near Hudson. Another historic home, Clermont, is really close to Red Hook. We'll plan on visiting there the next time.

The Red Hook Inn's hosts, Pat and Nabil are very warm and gracious, extremely attentive and concerned about their guests' comfort and well-being. The breakfasts were delightful and the bed was really comfortable! The Inn is lovely, and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, not stuffy as is the case at some country inns. You are welcomed as a friend, and when you leave you feel have become part of an extended family. The location is great, as you are right downtown, so after a day of sight-seeing you can simply walk to a nearby restaurant and not have to drive to find a good place to eat. If you do want to venture out of town, though, there are many choices close to town as well. Definitely a place you will want to return to!

Room Tip: Room #9 on the ground floor is spacious and handicapped accessible.
