“Loved it before, not so much now.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge on April 26, 2013. We were there to celebrate my grandsons 12 th birthday. We've stayed there several times before and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay even though its quite pricey. This time it was not up to its usual standards. Of course as as soon as we arrived the kids wanted to hit the Water Park. This is where the the stay started downhill. We went to the lazy river where there were band aids, dirty water, sharp pieces of cement on the bottom. My daughter stepped on the cement pieces and 3 times had to check her foot to check for blood. This was mentioned to the lifeguards a couple times who seemed not to care. As was it mentioned to the night desk clerk, who said he would let the aquatics department know. It was disgusting. Then we were getting ready for bed when we noticed our reservation room for "6" was set up for 2. It was very annoying at 9:30@ night to go to front desk to have more blanket, pillows, towels sent to the room. All this has left a bad taste in our mouths. Again had this been our 1st trip we never would be back. And as I stated, it is quite pricey as far as room rates. The next night we stayed at the Sleep Inn in Queensbury. Much less per night and we were much happier with our stay.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

We are a family of 4 and we stayed at the lodge over the Easter weekend.
The lodge is very nice but it is less impressive than it appears on their website.
The lobby was still decorated with Christmas decorations and the tree was still up which at the beginning of spring seemed out of place.
We felt that the rate we paid was pretty expensive overall but the waterpark certainly provided a great deal of fun not just for our kids but for us adults too, so at the very end we were happy to have been here.
Being an holiday weekend the place was crowded. The lobby seemed a railroad station the whole weekend, day and night. There was quite a line at the front desk when we arrived but the personnel seemed quick and efficient and we moved up reasonably fast.
The waterpark is very big and provides plenty of fun at least, for pre-teens children.
At the waterpark level there is a shop with a great selection of reasonably priced swimsuits and other accessories that you might need while there, and a small fast food. Food was allright but the young lady at the counter was rather rude. There are several rows of lockers. The lockers came in two sizes a small one for a few pieces of clothing and wallets and a large one for multiple larger bags. There is a sort of ATM machine to be used to rent your locker. If I remember correctly it only worked with cards. The changing rooms are pretty basic. There wasn't even a hanger to hang you belongins while changing and the floor was just plain dirty. The bathrooms and the showers were also very dirty. I'm not saying this lightly. They really were !
On the ground at the waterpark there were some food remains that guests had left behind and I didn't see a single cleaning staff member taking care of the mess the whole day.
There was a shortage of dry towels available, mostly at night when people were leaving but the gentleman at the towel booth was really helpful and went to get some for my children from a housekeeper station instead of making me wait that another cart of dry towel was coming from the laundry.
I really hope that all this was because the place was overcrowded during an holiday weekend.
I would like to see the condition of the place during a non-holiday weekend.
The rooms seemed reasonably clean but the hotel common areas left a lot to be desired and carpet seemed dusty.
If it wasn't for the lack of cleanliness of the waterpark's common areas, which were unsatisfactory to me it would have really been a perfect weekend.

Celebrating my daughters 10th birthday at waterpark, then a sleep over. Had a three bedroom suite. Looked clean, but was woken up to biting bedbugs. Left the hotel at 1:30 am. Hotel followed up 3 days later. They did refund our money.

Reports such as these are rare, but when they occur we take them extremely seriously and upon your departure we immediately shut down the room and called in outside experts to eradicate the problem. We surprised our kids, my niece and nephew with a 3 day trip. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous , the staff is extremely courteous! There is a Johnny Rockets on site which served an excellent breakfast at a great price . There is also an arcade and a kids club where they can do various arts and crafts and they have , movies and snacks at night after the water park closes ( nominal fee ) . The rooms are spacious we had 2 queen beds and a pull out sofa . There is a refrigerator and microwave in each room. There are workout facilities and also Guest laundry room, where you can do your own laundry . We snagged a great deal via LivingSocial.

Easy check in, friendly staff, clean room, and fun and exciting water park. Arrived at 2:00 and was able to check in immediately. The water park was very safe. We felt comfortable taking a dip in e spa while kids played on the water structure together.

Room Tip: Room with bunk house is great for kids and gives them their own space.

Very nice short stay trip for younger children. Water park gets crowded in the late mornings. Hotel is very beautiful and clean but is starting to get a little worn down. Great activities for younger children.
