“Clean and comfortable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2011

After being rained out of our tent, we were looking for a no frills, dry place to sleep and found the Budget Inn a few meters down the road. It wasn't our first choice as it is nothing to look at, but the previous hotels we stopped at wanted close to $200 for a basic room! We negotiated a great price and held our breaths only to be pleasantly surprised! The room smelled fresh, the beds were soft, and the shower was clean. Overall the cleanliness was refreshing and we definitely got a great nights sleep!

The motel offers some standard amenities in the room (soap, towels, plastic cups) but no shampoo or coffee maker but on the plus side there is a Stewart's within a 5 minute walk for those who need their coffee fixes first thing in the morning.

I would stay here again in a heartbeat to avoid paying the outrageous room prices at other small motels in the area!

the mattresses were very worn and appeared to have have blood stains on the box springs. The a/c unit blew its fuse every night therefor makeing it unusable. The showers wall was coming apart and the lamanate floors were bubbled and poorly done. The room service was so bad that we had to clean our own room, walk down our own trash, and ended up having no fresh towels or toilet paper. The maid even left our door completly unlocked after inspecting our room.

Well, how do I start? I lived there because i had no place to go, I got really bad scabies from the sheets, which I had to beg for. I had to wash them next door myself, which was SO costly!!! I only liked that Walmart was across the street! Other then that I would never, ever return!!!!

My family has stayed at this same motel for years and loved it. The motel used to be owned by a nice old man who remembered everyone by name and went out of his way to please everyone. Now the new owner is not at all professional. First the rooms all smelled very musty. There was 7 families of mine who were staying there. One of the main reasons for staying there was the heated pool. The owner said the heater was broken for some time. Also the ice machine was broken from over the winter time. Those are a couple of understandable incidents. Next came the owner and some other people outside a few feet from our rooms playing loud music, laughing and partying well into the hours of 2:00 a.m.! A complaint was made the next morning about it. No loud music that night. The following night the music and laughter continued in the house which is adjoined to the motel office. There was strange people in and out of there all hours of the night. It was outright scary and sleezy. Next was a toilet that overflowed in one of my families bathrooms. We tried to reach the owner, which always was hard to do. Finally when he came over he put some towels on the bathroom floor which was flooded and said the maids will take the towels in the morning. We found this to be unacceptable. We asked if he could have someone clean it with a mop and disinfectant. He brought a mop and was angry, saying it is our mess and we should clean it up cause we did it. He said he wasn't our slave. We were pushed to our limit and finally got angry and started arguing with the owner. Trying to make him see that he was being unreasonable and we were paying to stay there and they should have maintance available to tend to such things. He would not see reason. He was very insulting. We finally told him we would never return and he would loose alot of business. He said he didn't care and replied "I am not going to die if I loose your business". My sister ended up cleaning up the mess herself. There was alot of other incidents like a broken baby swing which was repairs but just tying a knot. A large broken limb on a tree that the small children were haning on, my brother noticed and pulled it down easily and thanked god no one was hurt. So all in all I would like to prevent anyone from staying at this motel and going through what my family did. We could not get our money back and had to stay the 3 nights. We tried to make the best of a bad situation. We didn't want to go back home after this long anticipated vacation.

We've stayed at Brown's Welcome Inn for over ten summers when we visit family in the area. Each year, we're greeted like old friends - since our very first visit. The motel is always full - families, retired couples, traveling singles. For us, part of the charm of vacationing in the Adirondacks is the ability to get away from the sterile "big box" hotel chains. Staying at Brown's is not like staying at a big city hotel - but it's always neat and clean. The bedding is clean and crisp, there are plenty of towels and hot water, and the in-room air conditioners work beautifully even on the hottest of days. There is a little fridge in each room, and shelving to place your toiletries behind the sink. The sink is separate from the bathroom, which makes mornings easier with a family. The drawers are large and spacious. Cable TV reception is great. There's a nice pool, a gazebo with a small playground, and chairs in front of each unit. In summer, flowers are abundant, with hanging baskets everywhere and large flowerboxes hanging along the rails in front of the units. Food is within close walking distance. The property offers discount tickets to Great Escape - which is just up the street. The outlet center, Glens Falls museums, Lake George, the Northway, are all just moments away - you can be in downtown LG in under fifteen minutes on a busy day, less with lighter traffic. For a quiet, clean, friendly place to stay with reasonable rates - Brown's is our choice!
