“Free Parking”

Howard Johnson Inn Queens Village

I had chosen this hotel because of the price which included free parking and a continental breakfast. My only issue was that the maid did not bring fresh towels and clean the room the 2nd day. The beds were made, but that was it.

My family of 4 stayed here 2 nights for a trip to see the Mets and Yankees play their last season at their respective stadiums. Shea Stadium is about a 15 minute car ride away. $15.00 parking and they allow tailgating. Yankee Stadium is about an hour and 15 minutes by bus /subway.

My advice is to buy the all day pass for $7.50 and utilize the bus and subway for access to Manhatten. It was my first time in New York and their transit system is so easy to use. We felt safe the whole time...even when we returned at 1:00 in the morning.

“Nice Clean Place”

My husband and I stayed here for our yearly trip to watch the Yankees. This property is fairly new and very clean. There were plenity of parking spaces. We purchased the all day metro card for $7.50. We then took the bus to the subway station. This is cheaper than taking the Long Island Railroad. If you take the Long Island Railroad you will have to buy the Metro Card anyway to get around the city. We would probably stay here again.

“Another great review for HoJo Queens Village”

Howard Johnson Inn Queens Village

Mar 27, 2008

Another great review for HoJo in Queens Village in Jamaica. I booked this hotel during an extremely busy time in NY (spring break for students) when most of the hotels in Manhattan had rates through the roof (i.e. +$200/night for a 2 star hotel), so this was a viable option at $89/night for a 1 king bed nonsmoking room.

Pricing: excellent value for the price! I booked directly through the HoJo website for the best price, because middlemen sites like Travelocity and/or Priceline will charge extra fees. Also, the cancellation policy and modifying reservation policy is really easy using the HoJo website--I could change my reservation (i.e. reduced from 4 nights to 3 nights very easily), and I could cancel up to the day before without penalty.

Location: Queens Village/Jamaica is kind of scary for those not used to ghetto environments, but luckily the LIRR station is literally 5 minutes away from the hotel. Walk fast late at night :) Just joking, there are actually not that many people around late at night (midnight-ish), so you'll be okay. There didn't seem to be much to explore in Queens Village itself, so we basically used the train twice each day (once to and once from Manhattan every day). The train ride is about 20 minutes, and $5.25 each way, with a smooth connection at Jamaica station. We caught a cab from JFK the day of arrival, and the total fee turned out to be around $30 (for two people). We figured it was worth the cost for easy transportation of luggage, instead of getting lost via Airtrain and subway, which I had read was one of the cheaper options.

State of hotel: Super super clean!! No problems with reservation, housekeeping cleaned room every day after we left for NY (around noon) and was nice and clean after we got back. Wireless internet (free) was absolutely indispensible, since we planned along the way using our laptops. Free breakfast was very nice (mini bagels, mini muffins, juice and coffee), absolute basics that got the job done.

Overall excellent 3-night stay at this hotel. You won't lose with this one!!

“Excellent job from the Howard Johnson team !!!!”

HOUSEKEEPING
Excellent housekeeping work!!! When we came back after a very tired day, we were pleasently satisfied to find our room well kept. The beds were wonderfully tucked in and new towels in the bathroom.

RESERVATION
Ease of reservation and good deals online...

FRONT DESK
Helping mentality from the front desk is appreciated. Calm and nice behaviour. They booked taxi for us for our return journey and easy check in and check out process..

FOOD/ BEVEARAGE
Good quality (free) breakfast. The food was unlimited. It was very nice that the hotel provided free breakfast. We could dine at our comfort zone rather than going out on a cold morning to search for breakast :)

OTHER ATTRACTIONS
We can reach New York City in a matter of 20 mins via train. The train station is hardly 5 mins walkable distance from the hotel.

There is a Popeyes and many Mexican restaurants were we can buy food at a reasonable price. We usually used to have Chicken Fajita for $1.69 :) There are many shops and delis to buy fruits and other things :)

The place has people from all ethinicity and origin..

COMMENTS FOR HOWARD JOHNSON TEAM
Keep up the good work Howard Johnson team !!!!

A+ Staff: This was the first trip I've ever planned. The lobby and rooms were all clean and orderly. I wasn't certain if they allowed early check-in, and they do, which was a big help for a first time traveler! The front desk staff was so friendly and helpful. Very nice peoples! Transportation was very easy! The LIRR train was literally yards away from the front door to Manhattan in minutes! VERY CONVENIENT! I had a lovely stay and would consider choosing that hotel again!
