For the past 7 seven years, the “Winona Women” have traveled from Ithaca, NY to the Tughill Plateau for a weekend of cross-country skiing and have always stayed at Linda’s 1880 House B&B. Cross-country skiers feel right at home at the 1880 House. Linda and her daughter, Dawn, have 3 to 4 homemade soups (including a vegetarian option) waiting for skiers on Friday night or Saturday afternoon after they come in from Winona State Forest (15 min drive) or Osceola. We’ve met skiers from Philly and Wilmington, Delaware who are regulars at the 1880 House. Linda and Dawn also make dinner (for an extra charge) on Saturday night for guests—turning the living and dining rooms into fireside dining—and Linda’s 11 year-old granddaughter, Hannah provides impeccable service. And, speaking of food, the homemade breakfasts are great—ranging from breakfast pizza to pumpkin pancakes. The rooms are nicely appointed and the views of the Salmon River from the dining room are terrific. We are a little nervous about telling the world about the 1880 House but as long as you don’t take our room, we’ll be fine!
