My family and I have stayed at a number of residence inns across the country. This one is fairly new and generally very nice. It is located right off of route 9 in Poughkeepsie, but it is set back a little from the road, so the traffic is not a problem.

Some residence inns look like traditional hotels. Others look more like townhouse condominiums. This one looks like a traditional hotel. We stayed in a two bedroom suite which was not as big as the two bedrooms in the condo-style residence inns, but was adequate for our needs.

There is an office building being built next door, but we did not hear any construction noise.

The pool and hot tub are nice, and the water in the pool is nice and warm. There is a large strip mall across route 9 with a supermarket and some chain restaurants. There is a Stabucks, a Quiznos and an EMS in the same complex as the residence inn.

The staff was friendly.

The only thing that residence inn (and courtyard, too) can't get quite right is the breakfast. The food is fine, I guess, though it's always virtually the same. The problem is that the coffee runs out, or the eggs run out, or the breakafast area is too congested. This is a very minor point, though. Overall, this is a very good residence inn.

My family and I stayed at the Residence Inn for about two weeks, maybe longer, and had a wonderful time. Because we were here so long, I can comment about nearly all aspects of the facility. But to cut to the chase...stay here over any other place in Poughkkeepsie!

Staff: All incredibly helpful. We needed to move from one suite to another when the AC wasn't working properly and the maintenance guy was very sweet, helpful and apologetic. He helped move us. The front desk people, all very nice. The cleaning crew, friendly and nice.

Food: We had breakfast every morning and my kids (age 9 and 6 ½) never got tired of it. There’s a pretty good selection of hot and cold food. It can get a little crowded in the small serving area, so be patient or build in extra time. Monday to Thursday they offer a light meal, which can be either a lot of pretty good food, to a salad and bread. Overall, it was acceptable in flavor, but we did not expect to be fed dinner so it was great.

Pool/Gym: The pool was the hit with my kids. They were in it a lot and usually they were the only ones in it. There’s also a hot tub right next to the pool. Towels are laying out neatly on chairs like you’re on a cruise! And the gym is right next to the pool with huge windows looking out on to it. You could workout and watch your kids in the pool at the same time. The gym is modest, nothing great, but it’s better than no gym at all.

Room: Deluxe! Like I said in the title, my daughter walked into our two room suite and shouted, “Can we buy this place?!” We had a full kitchen, including a dishwasher. We had two full bathrooms and THREE TVs. Incredible. The beds were extremely comfortable and the sheets soft and inviting. Plenty of soft pillows. We had a beautifully made up room every day of our stay.

Pets: Yes, you can. There’s a nice dog walking area behind the hotel and they provide “doggie bags.”

Would we stay here again or recommend it to others?” Yes, in a heartbeat!!

We spent just one night here whilst visiting our son at Vassar College. We wished it could have been longer!

Booked after reading many reviews on TripAdvisor and we weren't disappointed. The place is SPOTLESS throughout and very quiet. We had a 1 bed suite, which had a lounger/dining room with a fully-equipped kitchen area, a double bedroom with vanity unit and a bathroom with shower over.

The aircon was fully adjustable and only woke us up once when it suddenly boosted. The bed was comfortable and the plumbing worked fine.

Breakfast was included in the price, and was a serve-yourself arrangement in the small, rather intimate breakfast room, complete with large plasma tv screen showing news programmes. Very pleasant breakfast, with plenty of choice. We were offered a complimentary evening buffet, but unfortunately we could not attend.

The pool looked lovely, and was completely empty every time we walked past. We only ever saw one person in the gym at any one time, and it looked well-equipped and bright and clean.

We made use of the internet facility in the public lounge, which worked fine and even had a colour printer, which attracted a small 'honesty charge'. Use of the internet was free.

We tried to make a local call from our room, but couldn't connect, so went down and asked the man on the front desk. He offered use of his phone there, free of charge!

When we left, we asked if they could call us a taxi to take us to Vassar College (about 3 miles away). Instead of a taxi, the guy summoned the hotel mini-bus and we were chauffeur-driven to our destination - at no extra charge other than a very well-deserved tip!! Extraordinary service!

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone, and would DEFINTELY stay here again if ever we visit Poughkeepsie in the future.

Stayed in a two bedroom suite while doing a college tour with my daughter. Selected it due to comments from others on TripAdvisor - and they were right!! Extremely clean and comfortable property. Many nice extras such as dish with hard candy, extra pillows, towels easy to find by pool/hot tub, very helpful front desk staff. Dog friendly - nice dog walk area behind the hotel (clearly marked) - and even that was completely clean.

Across the parking area is a Starbucks and Ruby Tuesday. Across the street is a large grocery store and large Barnes & Noble (easy walk).

Very good breakfast choices too.
