“A Nice Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

We were in Poughkeepsie to walk the Poughkeepsie-Highland bridge across the Hudson plus visit the FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt homes. We stayed at the Best Western (not our normal choice of motel/hotels) and really enjoyed it. The two young ladies on duty when we checked in could not have been nicer or more helpful. The room was clean, beds fine and I really liked the terrace on the first floor where you sit just above Wappinger's Creek, have your breakfast or a drink and watch the stream go by. A very picturesque setting. The breakfast was ok and there is a small bar that operates at night. I would recommend this motel highly and will definitely stay there again as we plan to return in the fall to attend a Culinary Institute of America course.

Room Tip: We were on second floor, used the elevator, it was fine.

We decided to find somewhere to stop on the drive between Washington and Plymouth mass,
One of our crowd said poughkeepsie. What a great surprise as none of us had ever heard of the place. When you drive up the entrance is through an arch.
Reception is very welcoming the young lady behind the counter was excellent.
The big bonus is the view outside where thier is a river and waterfall perfect.

This creekside lodging is both comfortable and quiet. My second visit to the property, this time with a room overlooking the water. I can only imagine how much nicer it would be with the falls running. But, the staff is outstanding, the amenities are top notch, it is very close to dining options and will be on my return visit list.

Room Tip: Try for creekside...

Great location. Only a few miles from Vassar and downtown Poughkeepsie. We booked on Expedia. I think it may be worth a phone call to see if there is a better price because when we checked in the paperwork printed out with a lower price on the room than we received through Expedia..
Check in was easy. Staff was helpful.
Room had great beds and pillows. The heating/air conditioning unit was so quiet we could sleep through its cycles.
Only problem was that we had to wait for hot water that evening while it was being fixed. But they were on top of the issue and had it fixed before nine.
Breakfast offered waffles, bagels, English muffins, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, and microwaveable sausage sandwiches. We were satisfied with it although not the widest selection we've been offered. But the setting made up for the selections. We were able to sit outside by a picturesque steam while enjoying breakfast. The building did need some attention to the doors and area to the outside. All in all, we would stay there again.

Room Tip: It may be worth a phone call to see if there is a better price because when we checked in the paperw...

We stayed here for a night and used it as a base to go to attractions nearby as well as Rhinebeck. Check In was easy, staff was courteous and helpful and the room was very clean and modern. Room had a view of the falls. Bathroom was well done and the bed was firm enough to sleep well on. We will go back for sure!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a water view.

Our stay here was for our daughter's wedding. It was a beautiful, smaller hotel, with a lovely location. It was nice a peaceful, and excellent location if you want quiet. It is about a 5-8 min. drive from the main road (Rt. 9) in Poughkeepsie, so if you want to be close to the action, you'll have to drive to it. The hotel staff was young, but relatively polite. Breakfast was adequate. You can make your own waffles, have a selection of 2 cold cereals, packet oatmeal, and a selection of breads. There were also microwave egg/cheese/meat croissants in a refrigerator. The only real issue I had during my stay was that even though the housekeeping staff was well aware that there were more than 2 people in my room, they continually only left 2 towels every day that they cleaned, and we constantly had to call to the desk to request more towels.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the water. Very pretty view.

I stay at this hotel last month for family function with other friends, hotel and customer services was way beyond expectation. Hotel crew was very friendly, it feels like home.

Not to mention they have very beautiful breakfast deck near water. My friends and family spend most of our nights on deck during our visit which was amazing experience. In short we are very satisfied and definitely we will stay at this hotel whenever we visit in future
