This little theater features excellent independent films but shows first-run blockbusters, too. seats are comfortable and the popcorn is excellent!

“Jacob Burns Film Center with a side of Pleasantville, NY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

The Jacob Burns Film Center is really just that: a film center. It features some first-run, "regular" movies, but often features foreign films or something just offbeat foo. It's worth looking at all their offerings. They also have some special evening showings with comments or lectures by directors, actors, and the like before the show. But also you should know that Pleasantville, NY is a very cute little town. You can shop in many local shops that are very unique and nice. You can do things like go to an actual small bookstore and look around (at least you could do this the last time we were there,,,hope this bookstore hasn't gone the way of so many others!). And there are many good restaurants within walking distance of the Jacob Burns Film Center, so you don't even have to have a car! Check out their excellent website for more info. It's a great place to see a movie, and even worth the trip there if it's not close to where you live, just for a different type of movie-going experience!

“Best theater property in the area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

The "JBFC" offers the best physical theater property in the area with premium sound, big, comfortable chairs and a relatively reasonable concessions stand. The offerings can be a little esoteric and sometimes require a special degree or bilingualism to understand. However, serious cinephiles will be in heaven. In short, open your horizons and see the show.

“Can't Go Into Manhattan? Try Jacob Burns.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

One of the few theaters in Westchester where one can see indie or foreign
movies. Several small restaurants in the town for a bite to eat before or after the movie.
