It's always a treat when I get to have soup at the ADK Soup Company. At mid-day, the restaurant was packed. As usual, three soup specials were offered. Today, there were the unique offerings of Goldfish Chowder, Pork BBQ Soup, and Autumn Harvest Vegetable. What a dilemma to have to choose one from these three tasty possibilities. My choice of the hearty vegetable soup did not disappoint. Thick, rich, and delicious! The soups can be paired with sandwiches or salads. For $8.95, one can get a bowl of soup along with a whole sandwich. $6.95 gets you the soup with half a sandwich (this is more than plenty for most appetites). Six creative specialty sandwiches are always available which range from the "Swimming Upstream" for the tuna lover to the "Tree Hugger's Delight" featuring homemade hummus to the "Apple Orchard" with thinly shaved ham, apple slices, and an apple-Dijon mustard on your choice of bread. I'd challenge anyone to not find some sandwich combination they couldn't enjoy. Inside, the restaurant is decorated in typical Adirondack-style decor similar to what one might find in an old camp outside Lake Placid or Saranac Lake. Although service tends to be a bit slow, it is hardly a drawback and no reason not to choose the Soup Comany for a relaxing lunch in downtown Plattsburgh. If you know of a better bowl of soup around here, I'd sure like to hear about it!
