My boyfriend and I were in Plattsburgh for the weekend, and based on previous reviews left on TripAdvisor, we decided to try Anthony's Restaurant and Bistro for supper. Well, TripAdvisor's ratings and rankings were, as usual, very accurate. Anthony's turned out to be a truly amazing dining experience and the highlight of my weekend in Plattsburgh. In short, the service was impeccable; the atmosphere was warm and inviting; the food was delicious; and the prices were very reasonable considering the quality of the food and service.
The restaurant provides warm fresh bread and a medley of olives to start. We both ordered a French onion soup as our appetizer. My boyfriend then had the filet mignon while I had the surf & turf (filet mignon and shrimp) as our main. The soup was probably the absolute best French onion soup that I've ever had. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the sides were delicious.
We ate in the dining room, and while Anthony's is a rather fancy(ish) type of restaurant, it is by no means stuffy or pretentious. The atmosphere is relaxed, cozy and very enjoyable, and the staff make you feel like family. There's no dress code, and people not used to formal dining would not feel uncomfortable here.
I will most definitely be returning to Anthony's upon my next visit to Plattsburgh.
