“Always a great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013 via mobile

Discovered this gem about 5 years ago and head back every year at least 3 times per year. The staff is always friendly and courteous. The course is challenging, views spectacular and rooms are clean and comfortable. Plenty of activities after your round, beach, horseshoes, BBQ's and fire pits. Thanks for another great 3 days and see you in August.

“Golf course”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

To whom it may concern,

We just came back from your golf course this morning and we did not play our second game, which was scheduled at 10:00. We called on Sunday, June 9, to make reservations for one foursome (two suites) and asked about the weather forecast and golf course. The person who answered failed to mention that the course was completely soaked, almost flooded; he did not even mentioned that it was car path only. Consequently, we made the reservations and arrived on site yesterday, June 13. We teed off at 1:00 p.m. and played our 18-hole round. The course was in a pitiful condition. The fairways were flooded on nearly every hole (we even saw ducks swimming in the middle of a fairway) and all sand traps were filled with water (from afar we thought they were little lakes). We even renounced to practice swings, as it was too messy. At the end of the game, we stayed in two of your suites and it was o.k., but no more.

This morning we could not play because our golf shoes were still wet and the course was still like a pool. As the course has a very nice layout and seems like a nice one (in normal conditions), we would have liked to play it at another time, and asked the man at the pro shop if he could issue a rain check to replace this morning's game. He refused, arguing that it was not raining and there was no lightening. We found that this person totally lacked customer service. We were appalled to see that he could not give us a proper reason for refusing to accommodate us. He did not care that we were from Montreal and also planning to come back with 20 other golfers in August. Strong from this experience and disappointed by the stubbornness of your representative at the pro shop, next time we want to golf in or near Plattsburg we will go elsewhere.

Please note that we were not asking for a refund, but merely a chance to golf on your course at a later date.

You can be certain that we will be happy to inform all the golfers we know of your poor customer service.

I would have preferred to send you an email praising your golf course, but you have made it impossible.

“One of the Oldest Golf Courses in the USA”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

Legend has it President William McKinley visited here in the 19th century.

This is a privately owned public course which sits off of Lake Champlain. Recently some of the land was sold to make choice lake front home sites rendering the first two holes nearly worthless.
The twelth hole is a boring par 5. On the other hand you will enjoy the challenging 18th, the scenic views in the front nine and the friendly prices.

Play it twice a year and always enjoy the day.

“Super Old Time Golf”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Wonderful golf course. Clean and neat. Challenging and scenic to boot. It was even more fun when the airbase had jets taking off along the 12th hole.

A 30 minute drive fromthe Canadian border. Well worth the trip to play on the second oldestgolf course in America. Enjoy

“Challenging yet beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

It can be a windy course, with some spectacular views of Lake Champlain. Especially challenging is the Hole #5, a long par five headed directly into the wind off Lake Champlain. It's my favorite course in Clinton County.
