“Best in the Rochester area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

Did an overnight here and was very, very pleased. Slightly out of the way, but in a good way. Staff was very friendly, the room was nice. Avada products are always good. Breakfast in the rest. was free to gold members.

Only negatives were a weak Internet signal and a very loud turbo flush toilet. Both minor issues.

I would recommend highly.

You will have no problems with this hotel if you go in expecting a 2 star property. Do not expect a typical Renaissance.

First the positive: The hotel staff was very friendly. The rooms were clean. And there was a nice pub and breakfast spot in walking distance.

Now the problems:
Very small room. Very loud truck noise all night long from an overnight truck parking lot nearby. Very thin curtains that did nothing to block out the noise.

Pool: the room with the pool has about two feet on all sides of the pool. So there is no room for chairs of any type. Maybe OK as a lap pool?

Workout room: The work out room is an old hotel room. Small and not well equipped.

Breakfast: When we were there the breakfast room was undergoing renovations so I cannot judge the quality.

Spa: did not use

Lobby: very small with two chairs

Room Tip: Try to find one away from the truck parking!

This is a small spa hotel with beauteful surroundings by the canal. It is located 15 minutes away from Rochester center. The staff is very friendly and they have a complimentary shuttle transport to the city (and I would guess also to the airport). Food is excellent and the rooms are nice.

I have stayed here almost every time I have been in the Rochester area and it's absolutely the best I'm the area. And now with the expanded and renovated restaurant it's even better. The times I haven't been able to get a room here or tried to save a few dollars by trying somewhere else has only confirmed that the Del Monte is an excellent choice for travelers to Pittsford or Rochester. The location in the town of Pittsford next to the canal is perfect for families as well.

We stopped here for the first time for one night end of September on a perfect late summer/early fall day. The Hotel is ideally located in a very quiet neighborhood along the Erie Canal. After our long drive we walked a bit the bike path and enjoyed the very nice scenery.
Our room was very nice compared to what we experienced in NYC the last days.
The bar was very well equipped even we thought the - very friendly - ladies running the place there were in training mode for drink preparation. Anyway I enjoyed my last Juengling beer for a while.
We did not have time to test the spa and the restaurant (not for dinner not for breakfast) but can warmly recommend the little (French) bakery around the Corner

My wife and I are arriott Rewards members, so we always trend toward them. This stay is a classy establishment along the Canal in Pittsford NY. Very nice area, shops, history, scenic, and a SPA. We love all that but, most of all is the adjacent Bike Path. Its the old Erie Canal Towpath. You can ride for ever in both directions. East is not paved yet still a nice ride. We go 2 hours out, 2 back with a break to take in the beauty. Second day west as far as you want to go, Buffalo if you want. When you get to the Genesse River, the path goes North into Rochester, or South to Letchworth.

The hotel is probably wonderful if you don't have a room on the ground floor looking over the valet parking and hotel entrance. So we had to keep the curtains closed the whole time - very dark and confining. Also, the spa was uncooperative in fitting us in for spa treatments - would have thought hotel guests get accommodated even if it was the last minute. The front desk didn't seem to want to help us get appointments either. So that's why it's only 3 stars. Maybe on another weekend if the spa wasn't booked and there were better rooms available with light, this would have been a better review.
