“Best in the area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

We were in Phoenicia for a family gathering and happened into the Phoenicia Diner because Suzy's was closed. What a great find! The breakfast specials and menu were wonderful. We showed up with 8 people on Sat. morning and went back with 10 people on Sunday. Both experiences were great. The service was friendly and professional. Our food was delicious and served promptly. We all got our food at the same time even though the diner was busy. On both days, Mike, the owner, stopped by to chat us up and make us feel welcome.
Try the eggs with sauteed greens and polenta, it was amazing, the best breakfast I have had in a diner. We plan on returning to the diner whenever we are in the area.

“Beautiful, friendly, hip diner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

Food a cut above normal diner fare; more healthy options, often local purveyors, tastes fresh. Immaculate, good salads, omlettes, soups, sandwiches, gorgeous mountain views all around. A real gem.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

Friends joked that we keep going back to the Catskills just for the Phoenicia Diner and they may be right! The smoked trout is worth the drive from Brooklyn.

“Catskills gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Just back from this wonderful diner. At least our fourth visit. We've had a house in the area for 25 years. Having this diner so close is wonderful. It represents itself as offering local ingredients to make traditional diner food with a modern twist, and that is precisely what it delivers. The food is fresh and delicious, the coffee just right. The staff, which includes owner Mike Cioffi, is unfailingly friendly. This is not fast food; this is good food that might take a few minutes to be done right, and it is well worth the wait. Laura ordered an item not on the menu, a spinach and feta cheese omelette ($8), and I ordered the Farmer's skillet ($9). My coffee cup was refilled twice. On our way out Laura conversed with Mike about a picture she had seen in the ladies' room; he took time to comment on it. This is a great place, and we love having it nearby. A great value, very highly recommended.

“great breakfast spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

we stopped here for breakfast on our way back home after a ski weekend at belleayre. the staff was very friendly and accommodating of our 6-person group even though most of their tables are better suited for 2-4 people. we didn't have to wait very long to be seated.
the breakfast menu is a mix of your standard diner fare but with some fun little extras and interesting ingredients. i had the biscuits & gravy, and my husband had the farmer's skillet. the coffee was tasty and the service was very good & prompt. we would definitely visit this place again!
