Convenient to family in Port Kent for a Father's Day gathering.
Quiet - road noise ended about 9:00 PM,
Clean and comfortable.
Close to family restaurants and ice cream shop.
We have stayed both in cabin and motel, and will be back again.
Janice is the best!

My family had a family reunion at my daughter's farm in Keeseville last summer, and Janice stood on her head-with great success- to make everyone from 2-72 years happy. I've stayed here many times in the last 2 years, solo, with friends, and with my family, and everyone has been pleased. The rooms are varied—and all nice. There are the cozy cabins, as well as more modern rooms, some with kitchenettes, some that can be made to be adjoining rooms. They are all very well maintained and clean. It is a classic Adirondack motel, maintained really well while keeping the original feeling.
Janice is incredible—she just always bends over backwards to make everyone comfortable—I came in one evening soaking wet from a downpour, and she told me to give her my jeans so that she could dry them for me!
hile Thank you from all of us!

I am writing this review to publically thank Jan, the owner, again for the wonderful hospitality, not to mention the fact that she saved me probably a thousand dollars! First, by providing a clean, comfortable, convenient stay in one of the cabins - Queen bed, fridge, stand up shower, ceiling fan, tv, etc. Located only a short distance from Ausable Chasm and about 12 mi south of Plattsburgh. Jan was very personable on phone when making reservation and again in person when I arrived. Offered suggestion on fantastic restaurant, Livingoods, which was nearby and soon will also have its own brewery. When I was leaving the next day, I was telling her how much the dorms were going to cost for my son for mid-summer classes at SUNY Plattsburgh and she told me about apartment complex in town that rents cheaply in summer for students. It was awesome and literally saved $800+ from that bill. Because last weekend was graduation and move out weekend, hotels in Plattsburgh had 2 night minimums, and even Holiday Inn wanted 300/night. Shamrock Motel may be small in stature, but it has a great big heart! Thanks again Jan! See you again soon!

Room Tip: I liked the cabin over the motel rooms.

We went with friends and their families to Ausable Chasm and stayed here. I read the reviews about this place in Trip Advisor and decided to stay there. Like many others have mentioned, Janice, the owner, is maintaining this place very well. Clean and comfortable. We even had a small kitchenette in one of our rooms. The linens and towels were clean. If I were to visit any place with in 50 mile radius, I will make it a point to go stay here. BTW, Ausable Chasm is a place you have to visit. If you are planning a trip to Lake George, please travel an extra 90 miles up north. It's worth it.

I stayed at this motel a few weeks ago. Very nice hostess and comfy clean cabin. Bring your own hair dryer and cooler for snacks and drinks. Plenty of parking and very quiet area. Not far from small towns and restaurants.

Stayed at Shamrock Motel recently during the rainy Memorial Day long weekend of 2013. The owner Janice informed us before we started that it was going to be cold and if we required a heather cabin instead of room. Rooms are nice, a litte old, beds are a bit squeaky but everthing is clean and cosy. Add Janice's personal attention and you get a lovely experience of staying in a small quaint , pleasant village. For $68 a night, we got two interconnected rooms (7 & 8) with individual baths and a small kitchenette with a 21" oven and 4 gas burners (the kitchen included a big fridge & some utensils too). We were 5 people and got 3 beds, 2 double and 1 twin. The motel is sometimes easy to miss at night - but i will stay there again if and when i go there during the fall.

Room Tip: 7 & 8 / 9 & 10 are heated. Many are unheated cabins. Choose wisely if you are going during c...

We came to Peru for a family reunion. Rented both a cabin and a room due to the close proximity of the motel to our reunion location. Although there was no air conditioning in our particular rooms, a ceiling fan and small window fan in the bathroom were adequate to cool the room at night for sleeping. It was very comfortable. Beds were great. Bedspreads could use updating. They were a little worn and frayed. The rooms are small and the bathroom VERY small, with a shower stall. Not a fancy place but very cozy and not expensive. Owners were great.
