“Typical Adirondack Mountains motel!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2012

We came to Peru for a family reunion. Rented both a cabin and a room due to the close proximity of the motel to our reunion location. Although there was no air conditioning in our particular rooms, a ceiling fan and small window fan in the bathroom were adequate to cool the room at night for sleeping. It was very comfortable. Beds were great. Bedspreads could use updating. They were a little worn and frayed. The rooms are small and the bathroom VERY small, with a shower stall. Not a fancy place but very cozy and not expensive. Owners were great.

Have been a customer of The Shamrock Motel for over 10 years. We have family nearby and they have a small home necessitating a motel stay every trip. If you need a clean place with no frills at an amazing price for the North Country, this is the motel for you. The owner, Janice, is ultra accomodating to nice people and does not care for any rowdiness as this is a small, family run establishment. We ALWAYS stay at the Shamrock when in the area as it provides us everything we need for a good night's accomodation.

Room Tip: Bring your own toiletries.

If you're looking for no frills but at a great rate, this is your place. We're planning to leave out of the Plattsburgh airport the next day and at the spur of the moment decided to find a cheap place nearby. Found this place online and booked when we heard how great the rate was (on a Friday at the start of the 4th of July weekend no less). Owner said we needed to show up no later than 10pm so we quickly hurried to start our two hour journey. Got their right at 10pm. Janice was very nice and even recommended a few local bars. Room was a cute little cabin, nicely decorated and perfect for our simple needs of one night. Would definitely stay there again at such a good value.

Janice, the owner, is wonderful and goes out of her way to make you feel at home. The property is in a great location, the rooms are clean and everything works as expected. We had an efficency unit for the week and this worked out great, saving us money on eating out all the time. When we discovered the can opener was missing, Janice provided us her own electric opener!
I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family!

We chose this hotel based only on the reviews posted on this site and stayed for three days. This is perfect for a couple looking to spend all day in the mountains and then crash. The price is just amazing, only 49$ a night for a double bed and kitchen. The Owner is super nice, just as all the reviewers said, and she does a good job with keeping it clean. Just keep in mind that 49$ isn’t going to be what you expect if you travel and stay in a lot of hotels. It’s very run down, like most places in the area, and if you have a family there is nothing to do. We have two small children and I wouldn’t recommend it for families, but if it was just my husband and I looking to sleep off a busy day I’d stay again. No plug in the bathroom at all for a hairdryer/iron (again, just depends on what you need the room for). TV has basic channels and ours were “fuzzy”. Fridge door was broken/bent and hard to open/shut. Towels are older & tattered looking which was a turn off for me , and the place has that 60’s/70’s feel to it. No shampoos or anything like that which stinks because we forgot ours. Basically this is a good place to sleep and if you want/need nothing else then the beds will do the trick. No phones in the rooms and our cell reception was bad so we had to make our calls in town.

We selected the Shamrock since it was close to family and preferred the motel since they have air conditioning. Rooms were nice and had a small kitchen area if you wish to cook. I would stay here again. The price was excellent. For an older motel, we were impressed and will stay there again when in town. The owner was very nice.

We found Shamrock a very clean, convenient and comfortable place to stay. The efficiency we rented had a bigger kitchen than many you will find in New York city apartments with a stove, microwave and a refrigerator.

The motel itself is located conveniently close to many places of interest. Even Lake Placid!

Janice, the owner is very personable and friendly with tips on local interests. Her recommendation to go to a local golf club for dinner provided us a fabulous experience.

We were two families staying in adjacent rooms with a connecting door that was locked. When we asked her if she could open it, she told us that the door was never opened for a long time, but she hunted down the keys, opened the door and cleaned the passageway before letting us use it. That is service!

Last but not the least, the prices are very, very reasonable. If we ever went back to the area, we would definitely stay there again and would recommend it highly.
