“Wonderful Breakfasts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

We stayed here 3 nights in mid-October. Although the B&B is actually on the highway, it is set far enough back that for the most part you can't hear the road noise unless you open your windows at night. We stayed in the Blue Room which was very spacious. The breakfasts that Burney and Susan serve are incredible. Burney seems to have an endless number of recipes that he likes to try and all the ingredients are delicious. Probably would stay in a different room were we to return. I think the cabins would offer the perfect privacy. Burney and Susan are consummate hosts and Burney gave us a night sky viewing one night through his telescope. This is his hobby and you can tell that he loves it!

We chose Los Gatos based on Trip Advisor reviews and we couldn't agree more. Burney and Susan put their hearts and souls into being impeccable hosts. Their breakfasts are truly amazing. Make sure you plan plenty of physical activity afterwards!! Homemade jams and jellies and carefully prepared homemade breakfast foods (I don't think anything comes out of a can here!) are delicious. We could have easily made this our home base for our entire Finger Lakes vacation.

After reading some of the many enthusiastic reviews on TA and searching for a new place to stay, we chose Los Gatos and were very pleased with our choice. Burney greeted us as soon as we hit the driveway, then assisted with the unloading and transporting of our hugely overpacked luggage and supplies to our digs for the week, Casa Verde (AKA: Cabin #1). The accommodations were comfortable, cozy and convenient. They met and exceeded our expectations and were only a few steps away from the Main House and Burney and Susan's delicious breakfasts which included many local ingredients (some straight from their extensive gardens) and homemade baked goods (like English Muffins) baked fresh by Burney (mostly). Although we're very familiar with the Keuka/Seneca area, our hosts were very informative and updated us on all of the new eating places, wineries and places to visit, as well as letting us know the changes that occurred at those we already have known. We will definitely return...perhaps sooner than our usual every three or four years visits. (NOTE: I repeatedly tried to attach photos to this review, but the uploader wasn't doing its job. Sorry, but imagine a beautiful pastoral scene spread out over a very wide horizon. That's what it looked like.)

Room Tip: Although we slept very well, for those overly sensitive to exterior sounds, the rooms in the house a...

We stayed in one of the rustic cabins at Los Gatos B&B and thoroughly enjoyed our weekend there. The owners, Burney and Susan Baron, were great hosts and their home cooking, jams and jellies, blended grape juice, and grape pies were gourmet treats. And good news - you can buy their homemade preserves online.

We found the location north of Penn Yan to be a great starting point for touring wineries around Keuka Lake and dining in Penn Yan. We enjoyed eating at the Keuka Restaurant in Penn Yan.

The cabin was very comfortable, the breakfasts were great, and we would stay there again on our next taste n trip!

We stayed in the Grand Suite upstairs at Los Gatos and it was wonderful. The suite consists of a bedroom with a separate sitting room and a deck overlooking the outdoor pool and the grounds (a lovely view of the property and the farmland beyond). The quite was very comfortable and extremely clean and the breakfast was delicious. It's always a treat to stay with innkeepers who really love what they're doing. We've stayed at quite a few B&Bs over the years, and this was one of the best. Don't know if we'll ever be passing through Penn Yan again, but if we're in the area we'd definitely stay at Los Gatos again.

Room Tip: The grand suite is beautiful (and we heard from others that the cabins were quite nice as well)

We often stay in B&Bs during our many travels as a newly married, retired couple. We look for cozy ambiances and the personal warmth of meeting and talking with our hosts. At Los Gatos, we felt at home from the moment we were welcomed by Susan and Burney, who were well-informed and helpful proprietors. Add their herb gardens and paths through adjoining woods, a clean and wonderfully cooling swimming pool, a quiet and relaxing pool-side gazebo with a wide vista, and Susan's myriad of jams. Undoubtedly, the highlight of our stay was Burney's signature breakfasts that included his fabulous blueberry clafoutis, derived from a pan-baked French dessert made with less sugar. (Full disclosure: We felt part of the preparation as we even helped gather eggs from their three chickens before the guest-acclaimed event.) The next time we return to the Finger Lakes, we would definitely stay at this B&B again. By all measures, Los Gatos beats any B&B experience we ever had.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the spaciousness of the beautifully decorated Blue Room in the main house.

My husband and I decided to stay in one of the Cabins at Los Gatos for our 1 year Anniversary. Burney & Susan were so wonderful!!! They were very informative of the area and had great recommendations. The breakfasts were so delicious!!! The accomodations at the Casa Azul Cabin was amazing and more than we had expected. We would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the area and look forward to our return!! Thanks for a relaxing and wonderful Anniversary stay!
