“Hotel is great, but don't eat at the restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

We stayed at the hotel because it was near a venue we were attending a wedding. The bed was very comfortable. I thought it was a little cheap that they would charge extra for a refrigerator in the rooms, since many hotels include that. We had the unfortunate experience of eating at the Henry's restaurant twice. Both times were a disaster. Our waiter both times was Ivan (the terrible). The first occasion was breakfast. He brought out my oatmeal, english muffin much later and my husband's eggs were delivered when I was almost done with my meal. We had to ask him where the toast was. The second occasion was lunch, where Ivan took the drink orders before the meals. The delivery was so slow. I ordered tuna fish and it arrived after all the hot cooked food. I couldn't eat it because it was loaded with onions, which was not stated on the menu. I also didn't have time to eat it because it arrived over an hour after the order was taken and I was on a tight schedule. When I asked the hostess when the food would arrive, her comment was that it would arrive when it was done with a nasty attitude. Don't bother wasting your money here.

sweetsue13,
I'm glad you found our hotel "great" and our beds comfortable, but I'm sorry to hear of your experience at our restaurant. I don't blame you for being disappointed in the service that you describe. Thank you for sharing these comments and we will use them as a teaching tool. We are much better than that and and typically we hear very positive comments about our service. Our buffet breakfast is priced under $20 and offers made-to-order eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, homefries, pastries, juices, croissants, bagels, muffins, yogurt parfaits, fresh juices, and of course fresh coffee. Most find it to be quite a good value for a full breakfast. A better option and value for just eggs and coffee is to order from our breakfast menu. Thanks again for your feedback.
Sincerely,
William Maloney

A pleasant surprise located in the historic hills of upstate New York. This property welcomes the weary traveler, and embraces you in their well appointed facility. A short drive from the New Jersey border town of Montvale this property gives you a bit of the big city with all the amenities that you need in a historic hamlet. Should your travels bring you to this part of the country then take a turn off the beaten path and find your destination to Pearl River,,,

Claudette J,
Thanks for your gracious comments. Like you said, our location in the lower Hudson Valley offers a relaxed scenic atmosphere with proximity to northern NJ (5 mins) and NYC (20 mins). I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and I look forward to you visiting us again soon.

Overall the hotel was pleasant and the staff was also. The hotel looked like an estate which gave it a different feel. I felt like I was away even though it was for the weekend. I would stay again for an R and R experience making use of the spa and the pool the next time around.

The Pearl River Hilton is a solid hotel about 20 miles from New York City, not far from some interesting places like West Point, Stony Point, Cold Spring and the rest of the Lower Hudson River area. The rooms are very comfortable, and the lawn in the back of the hotel looks out over a golf course and is quite nice. The food is well prepared and service fine. It's about a two mile drive to coffee shops and other stores. There is no executive floor.

However, one of the stock photos of the hotel shows a beautiful pond in a lush surrounding of growth. Look carefully: the pond and green area are not part of the hotel grounds but rather are part of a business office park across a 4 lane highway from the hotel; the highway is not very visible in the photo. In front of the hotel is a very nice fountain and a very standard and substantial hotel parking lot. Based on this photo, I had a picture of the hotel in my mind, and I had to adjust that picture when I got there.

Bruce M,
Thanks for the comments. In particular, I like being called a "solid hotel." I'm glad you found our proximity to NYC and other highlights of the lower Hudson River Valley so appealing. That's how we earned the nickname "The Chateau in The Country near The City." And you're absolutely right - the pond to which you refer isn't directly in front of our hotel as it might look in that one photo. Other photos show its location much more clearly. Still, people love the green surroundings of our 17 acres and the views of the Blue Hill Golf Course located just behind the hotel. We hope to see you again soon.
Sincerely,
William Maloney,

We were hosting a wedding nearby, and had booked 60 rooms at the Pearl River Hilton. The hotel was very impressive and added to everyone's enjoyment. We were provided with shuttle service to and from the reception. Also, we hosted a brunch the morning after the wedding in hotel garden room. Everyone was very pleased. Thank you for the excellent service.

Tony S,
Congratulations on the wedding and I'm glad we were able to help make it so enjoyable for your many out-of-town guests. As you experienced, Le Jardin (or the Garden Room, as many call it) is a terrific setting for a brunch. Thanks for your wonderful comments. We'd love to have you back for your anniversary!

Our stay was a very pleasant experience overall and the hotel and staff were very accommodating. The hotel and grounds provde an exceptionally peaceful setting were one can relax at their own desired pace. The pool and spa facilities were first rate and definitely met expectations. Dinner in the restaurant was very good.

Gary B,
I'm glad you found it to be so peaceful here. Sometimes it's hard to believe we're just 20 minutes from NYC. In particular, it's great to read that you enjoyed dinner. Our new restaurant chef in Two Henrys is doing some terrific things and his seasonally updated menus are terrific. A visit to our hotel isn't complete without a visit to Two Henrys.
Thanks,

Stayed three nights was unable to stay asleep. A/C unit in the room sounded like a generator being run right inside room. Even when the A/C wasn't running in our room, we could here the units running in other rooms. I over heard another guest complaining about same thing. The front desk simply told him all the units were fairly new. Well if that's true you need to get your money backed. It was horrible.

Room Tip: Pick a different hotel. This place looks nice from the outside but your not going to get any rest

Jay,
Thanks for these comments. They have helped us isolate and solve the problem related to the noise you experienced. It wasn't from the AC, but from a pump that was running close proximity to your room. Regardless, I am very sorry for the disturbance it caused for you during your stay. I invite you to contact me directly at the hotel if you would like to discuss this further. Please consider staying with us again the next time you are in the area as we’d love to make your next stay with us much better than your past stay with us.

Thank You,
William Maloney
