“great place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

After researching many hotels in the area I booked The Rainbow Inn for a 2 night stay. The place is a gem. Very easy to get to Cooperstown and surrounding areas. Very clean and the staff was superb. Clean rooms, quiet area and beautifully landscaped grounds. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Room Tip: any room choice would be ideal; set back from the road; quiet location.

Clean motel with a mini continental breakfast. Restaurant and bar on site. Also with a nice pool area on site. Could use a TV upgrade. Mattress a bit soft for me, but acceptable.

We stayed at the Rainbow Inn this past weekend. Is is just outside Oneonta towards Cooperstown (probably 25 minutes to Cooperstown, maybe less). The room was larger than expected, lots of space. It was a little dated and the sheets and beds were not as comfortable as you would find in a new, chain motel.

There is a bar onsite (I think they make bar food too). In the morning there was a sparse breakfast in the office area. I'm not complaining, something is better than nothing.

I've stayed in several different motels and hotels and this is above average for a roadside motel, but it does not compare with the chain options in Oneonta and nearby such as the Holiday Inn, Clarion, etc. Then again, it was only $99 compared to $175 for the other ones.

After a stressful day, and being told for many miles that all motels in the area were booked, i had a serendipitous experience.... The Rainbow Inn. As i walked along the path to the office i became aware of the scent of the lovely lavendar plants. All of the plantings were gorgeous. Such care taken to create beauty. The owner soon appeared with a huge basket of organic pears she had just harvested for the guests. The room was quite large with a refrigerator and microwave, which i always appreciate. There were even windows that opened :) There was no toxic cleaning chemicals. What a safe place. True Sanctuary on the road..............

I couldn't believe how lovely this place was! The service and hospitality was amazing! I went for a wedding and there were roughly 15 rooms that were rented out by people at the wedding - each room is different and everyone was raving how great they were. There is a beautiful bar attached to the Inn so there is no need to travel into town for a drink. Close to downtown Oneonta and grocery store right around the corner from it. Great place!

We booked this hotel purely from photos on the website. A little pricey, but worth it. Room was huge, clean and QUIET!! I was not overly thrilled to find that we had the room right on the end, but we heard nothing!! We were told in the morning that guests had arrived very late in the room next to us and hoped we were not disturbed. Again, we heard nothing!! No doors slamming, nobody talking in the hall or next room. Very, very quiet! The only complaint I would have (and it's not really a complaint!) is that the continental breakfast was a bit lacking. Cold cereal, bagels, english mufifns and coffee cake. Overall, a wonderful experience and we will definitely pick the Rainbow Inn again!

Didn't know what to expect, but were we WOW'd by the pleasantry of the staff and the size, cleanliness of the room and there was a POOL! I haven't gotten this level of comfort and satisfaction in some of the more costly and trendier hotels in NYC or INNs in the Berkshires of Mass! will absolutely look at visiting again.
