Nice campground but be warned there are bears!! Had an experience with a bear which raided our campsite after we finished eating. Fortunately, she was more interested in the pizza than us and we were able to enjoy quite a show!! Picture explains it all. The cabin and bathrooms were very clean and we had a great time. We definitely will return next year.

I rented a cottage for my husband, son and his girlfriend, and two of our employees. The cottage was very clean in a great location. Over looked a small lake. The cottage was a little smaller than we planned on, but we made the best of it.

Had fires at night, laughed and drank into the wee morning hours without a complaint from any of our neighbors or staff. In the evenings when everyone was cooking dinner the bears would come out and raid your grills and picnic tables. A real thrill to see these animals in the wild! Chipmunks surround the area and a neat to watch. We fished in the small lake but only caught a huge snapping turtle. Rent a pontoon boat downtown, I caught a 4lb big mouth bass in the first ten minutes.

As travelers we are not the outdoor type, preferring to stay in luxury resorts but this was a real treat. We truly enjoyed this trip and are looking forward to reserving another cottage for our snowmobiling trip.

Highly recommend. Bring your own linens, towels, extra toliet paper and garbage bags, utensils, and cookware. You should probably bring a cooler too, the frig is alittle small forcing you to buy over priced food in town. The food downtown was excellent, cooking out a night or two at the grill provided is also fun.

Old Forge is in need of a dollar store also. The small grocery store in town is way over priced. I paid 3.00 for a spatula when they are the same exact ones at the dollar store.

Water Safari was great, but the water is not heated as listed.

My husband and I stayed at Old Forge campground for 2 nights. We stayed in a cabin. We've camped many places- this was by far the cleanest, quietest yet. We saw bears, deer, wild turkeys. The staff was ever present when black bears were around and did all they could to keep the critters from bothering the campers. The grounds are well-laid out, plenty of room to roam, lots of activites for kids. Loved it- would recommend this campground.

Rented a cabin for one night while visiting in the area. We do not typically camp at resort-type campgrounds as we prefer secluded tent camping. Was pleasantly surprised by the style, condition, cleanliness and location of our cabin (#32). It was like staying in a mini log cabin with a front porch, porch swing, double bed, and set of bunkbeds. The site and the cabin were spotless, quite unusual for a campground. Bath facilities were clean and comfortable. The lodge where you check-in has a well-stocked general store, family lounge with TV, laundry facilities and arcade. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Just got back from our trip to Old Forge Camping Resort. We rented Kabins 130 and 131. Check-in was a breeze, And the staff there were really kind and helpful.
We got to our kabins and inspected them, And they were really clean inside.
Each kabin had a full size bed and a set of bunk beds, A small table near the door, And a tiny night stand in between the full size bed and the bunk beds.. With a Bible on it.
They provided a broom and dust pan in each kabin, And they had heaters inside!!
Boy did that come in handy on those cold nights... 40 degrees at night, in July!
We got all settled and started a campfire.

My wife needed to go to the bathroom, So we walked to the Woodlands Restrooms.. Boy that was a joke.. And why I gave this place 4 out of 5. It is a co-ed bathroom!
The toilets, sinks and showers each had their own doors.. Which seemed to help.. But we still felt weird walking in and seeing little kids in there exiting from the showers (dressed of course) and using the bathroom with adults of the opposite sex inside doing the same. I am not sure if all the bathrooms were co-ed.. But the one near the office wasn't.
The staff kept the bathrooms really clean, And they have a time sheet with the last cleaning/inspection done.
The bathroom has a laundry room inside and looked really clean, Although we never used them. And there is a propane cooking station just outside the bathroom door.

There is a lake and a beach here but..
The beach is small and they don't provide lifeguards.. So any children wanting to go swimming needed at least two adults present.
They have canoes and paddle boats for rent to take out on the lake.

Now the bears! We saw three bears in the two nights we stayed. (most likely because we had the last two cabins right next to the nature trail)
The first night there we saw one exiting the nature trail, stopped and looked at us and then started walking down the road.. We ran to hide in our kabins, And our neighbors were running down to take pictures of it?? lol
Security showed up and talked to us about the bears, and explained how they just wanted food, and not to hurt us, and told us to keep our food locked up, out of sight, in our trunk or in the cabins. The bears can recognize coolers and they will try to get at them. The security staff was really nice and polite and understood our fear of bears and told us they make regular trips at night to check on things and to watch out for bears.. Which was a little comforting.
Then our neighbor was explaining to us that the night before we arrived another couple had the same kabin we had. But they had a pickup truck and left their cooler in the back, and the bears raided it in the morning. OH BOY!
The second time we saw a bear was the next night around 8pm walking in the field just passed a small set of woods, in a field clearing behind our cabin. We went earlier to the camp store and found these bear noise makers to scare the bears away and bought a couple of them.. We tooted the noise maker and it scared the bear away..
The third bear we saw.. Well my wife and friends saw, Was on the morning we were leaving.. We had a small bear walk right into our kabin area, sniffed our kabin out, sniffed my car out, and then my friends car out.. My friend blew his noise maker and scared him away.. I was sleeping at the time.. But I was told people were actually following the bear right up to our kabins and got mad at him for scaring him away...
He didn't care they got mad.. It was a small bear.. and all my wife and friends could think of was.. If thats a small bear... Then mama or papa bear were not too far away! lol
But all in all we had a great time, and the bears gave us stories to tell our friends..
We will surely visit again.. With our noise makers!
Oh.. I almost forgot.. We also saw deer there.. One night we walked to the bathroom and a deer was sitting on a hill just about 5 feet away from the road.. My daughter wanted to take a picture of it with her cellphone.. but our flashlights wouldn't light the deer up so she could get a good picture... Security to the rescue!! lol They drive around in golf carts and they used their golf carts lights to light the deer up so she could get a picture.. and all that time.. the deer stayed and posed for us!

My fiance and i wanted to get away for the weekend, so i heard about this place. We thought the cabins were perfect, porch swing was great, we really relaxed and had a great time. Everything was so clean, even the bathrooms...Overall very, very satisfied. When we checked in, everyone was smiling and had a great attitude. It was a perfect weekend. Can't wait to go back.....

We traveled with our 4yr old and 8month old children and another family with children the same ages. It was great! We staying in adjacemt 1 room camping cabins. They were rustic but we spent one night there and had 2 fun days at the adjacent water park (free shuttle to and back). Our 4 yr old thought it was great to stay in the top bunk (of course there was a hefty rail on it) and we brought a packnplay for the baby. Restrooms were clean. Porches were a nice place to sit when the baby was sleeping. It was a fun vacation-- we didn't need all the amenities of home-- we were on vacation to have fun and everyone was exhausted from the waterpark. Next time, we'll make more use of the common outdoor kitchen (a real stove-- no oven) and kitchen sink. Oh, and everyone will bring flip/flops or clogs so they don't drag in all the sand from the parking lots. One of our best vacations ever!
