Wow! What a fantastic vacation! We traveled to Indian Lake, New York in the heart of the beautiful Adirondack Mountains and stayed at the Lone Birch Motel. Everything was perfect. There was no traffic, no hustle-bustle. It was so peaceful... at night we could hear the "peepers" (tree frogs) and in the mornings we could listen to the loons on the lake that was across the road! This is a perfect detination for families with kids too! Our daughter loved it. She could be a kid! :) We took a day and went to the Adirondack Museum as well. Amazing! It's an open-air museum with twenty-something buildings! It's located in Blue Mountain Lake, NY which was about 10 miles or so from Indian Lake. It was a beautiful drive, and we had a wonderful time at the Museum! I think the Museum alone is worth a trip to the Adirondacks! If you are looking for a fantastic vacation the whole family will enjoy, then Indian Lake is your stop. We weren't able to do everything they had to offer... we could have hiked, camped, gone fishing... and I hear in the winter the snowmobiling is prime. We are definately going back for that... we already mad our reservations! :)
