“Take the side road to Garnet Hill Lodge Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

Beautiful scenary and setting for this visit. Adirondack lodge decor. Gorgeous overlook of 13th Lake. Our meals: Prime Rib, Ribs, Chicken all came with nice mixed green side salads. Food was very good. Service was excellent. Definitely will go again and try to get there earlier for a walk as they own hundreds of acres leading down to 13th Lake.

“Better than ever...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2012

Under new management, GHL has cleaned up it's act and menu. Fish dinner there last week was really fresh, tasty and the appetizers were delicous. The menu was actually very diverse and I'm looking forward to trying the other fare. Desert has always been good and that night was no exception. Great service, really fun.

“Garnet Hill Reborn again and better than ever”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

After Being away for the winter. We had Dinner at Garnet Hill over the weekend and were pleasantly suprised with the new owners, new look, new menu. We really enjoyed the food and service. Garnet hill has truly come into its own. The Chef has years of cooking at sea and his wide range of experiences is shown in the menu. The Menu is interesting with a rather diverse mix of styles and dishes. They were short handed that night and still the service was excellent. The Portabello mushrooms in pastry were great and the Broccolini ravioli with a sweet pepper sauce were quite nice as well. We all ordered fish and each dish was cooked perfectly. Trout with a light pesto, Haddock with a lemon Cream sauce as well as the salmon. Sadly They were out of the onion pie one of my favorites. The Sides were all cooked right and the presentation was lovely. The wine List was good and the proseco we ordered was great. Mary Jane's Pies are always a high light here, simple and good like your grandmother would make. So it was Raspberry and Blue Berry Pie for Desert. Garnet Hill's Restaurant is not perfection but Simply elegant and very good quality food with good value. We liked it and will be back to try more of the menu. Enjoy

“Excellent!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2012

Menu was short, but choices were good, food was excellent, and prices were reasonable (dinner for 2 with wine under $40). Breakfast was also very good, included in our room rate, and cooked to order off the menu.

“Garnet DOES shine with all their hearts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2012

We visited North Creek over the Christmas holiday and were delighted to discover the Garnet Hill Lodge this year. We had a great lunch (home-made soups that were amazing even homemade potato chips) and returned for dinner later in the week. We are dumbfounded as to Chef Mark Anthony's negative comments as we found the diverse entree selection refreshing and appropriate for a lodge attracting skiers and diners from all over. There was something to please everyone and I personally had a hard time narrowing it down as there were so many unique things that were on their menu! Ginger-glazed salmon...melt in your mouth amazing, husband RAVED about the duck and the trout filled with mushroom rosemary blend still makes my mouth water (Yes I had to look that up. Because i in no way remembered the filling...just that the trout was out of this world). We've been vacationing annually in the Adirondacks for 12+ yrs and have not dined at Garnet Hill. However, the new owners of the Lodge just opened on Christmas 2011 with no liquor license but by New Years Eve we had nice wines and hubby had beer. We know many details because the owners were visiting with folks at their tables, welcoming other guests and even providing the entertainment (playing piano). Our experience and that of the dozens of folks that we had the pleasure of chatting with in the bar after dinner or at our table in the dining room was nothing but friendly service and wonderful food! I have eaten at many 5 star restaraunts but I have never eaten anywhere that feels like a large family gathering with folks I don't know. Part of the Adirondack charm...maybe, but the cozy fire, live piano and overall personally of the lodge lent itself to friendly inter table chat. Met one couple who stayed at Garnet (although we did not) who always travels with their own wines because they are so picky...YET they found such a nice selection of wines & beers New Years Eve they hadn't even touched their own stock.  After reading Chef Anthony's review, I got curious as to what restaurant he runs that his palet is so refined? Appears he runs the food service/cafeteria at Gore Mountain where we ski almost daily during our vacations. Although I don't know much about his catering business he also has it seems unprofessional for a fellow "chef" who's mainstay is french fries and chicken fingers (although he has great fries) to post such negative comments about a real dining experience in his own hometown (and it is small town)...right or wrong, I question his motives! I know I rely heavily on reviews for most everything, especially where I spend my money. I would not want anyone to miss out on this lodge because of old reviews under previous owners or one bad review from someone who would appear to be an expert. Dining at Garnet Hill is a wonderful experience and OH...you MUST leave room for the homemade pies! Saw a family who was finished with their meal ask to meet the "little old lady" who makes the pies. She came out and that family proceeded to wait for nearly an hour to take three, just out of the oven, whole pies home because they were that good!!
