“Just Right”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

We looked at a lot of hotels before deciding on the Dream Island and have to say it was brilliant. We stayed in one of the suites for 6 days - good sized private terrace, great pool area, 5 minutes walk to the main bars/cafes, good breakfast and fantastic service.

If you're considering visiting Santorini, I'd highly recommend it!

A few tips / points:

1 - the hotel faces east so you'll catch some amazing sunrises but make sure to nip into town to catch the sunsets over the caldera. It also means that you'll catch most of the sun in the morning / early afternoon so sunbathing into the early evening isnt really on the cards late in the season

2 - make sure to let them know when you're arriving and they pick you up from the airport, and drop you back on departure (they even phoned the room unprompted the day before we left to organise a time with us)

3 - there's a church next door so do expect some early morning bells

4 - the pool area is a real winner

5 - if you're on a budget, the bars / restaurants facing away from the caldera in Fira are substantially cheaper than those with 'the view'

6 - most of the cruise ships drop off their tourists in the morning so Fira becomes really busy from then into the afternoon, but they tend to be gone by 5pm and the whole place becomes much more relaxed

Room Tip: I'd recommend the suite if you're staying for more than a few days. Upstairs rooms have balc...

We first stayed in this hotel back in 2010 and fell in love with both Santorini and Dream Island Hotel. We decided back then that we would one day get married on the island and this summer we did just that.

The owners, Georgia and Rousettos and their lovely daughter Konstantina are the most amazing, helpful and friendliest people you could ever wish to meet and nothing is too much trouble for them. The majority of our wedding party were all staying at the hotel and everyone absolutely loved their stay at Dream Island Hotel so much so that both my parents and sister have said that they would go back on their own separately for holidays.

We love the fact that the hotel arrange to pick you up from the airport where you are whisked away from the crowds and arrive at the hotel quickly and stress free. For the first 4 nights we were upgraded to a suite which was a lovely surprise and the extra room was very useful for wedding day preparations! On the wedding day itself our room was very tastefully decorated and we received some gorgeous flowers and a wedding gift from Georgia and her family which was very thoughtful.

We have to say a big THANK YOU to Konstantina who took some photographs of us around the hotel prior to our wedding ceremony and we can honestly say most of her photographs were actually better than the photographs taken by the professionals we had hired! ……Konstantina, you are a brilliant photographer and thank you so much.

The hotel itself is a dream, the swimming pool area is so relaxing and at times we felt like we were the only people around……..heaven! There are plenty of sun loungers which are so comfy and some shaded areas for when you need a break from the sun. Breakfast is excellent with lots of choices, even my dad was happy and he is usually really fussy! I think one of the main attractions about the hotel is its location, just a few minutes walk to the centre of Fira and the Caldera views but not too close to be affected or troubled by the noise.

You will NOT be disappointed if you stay at Dream Island Hotel. We know we will be back for a not too distant anniversary holiday. On a final note we must thank Georgia, Rousettos, Konstantina, and also the extremely hard working cleaning staff who are all equally amazing and not forgetting the little cutie-pie that is Athena for keeping watch over the hotel.
Our stay at Dream Island Hotel is full of happy memories which we will treasure forever xxx

Set on the sea side, just a few mins walk from Fira centre. Clean rooms, great pool, nice breakfast. The rooms are basic but spacious. So relaxing sitting by the pool under the curtained pergola - but can get very windy. It's not on the caldera so you won't get the famous Santorini views. But nevertheless, it's a great base to explore Fira.
It's a family run hotel - they were all very friendly, warm and welcoming. They offer free pick up and drop off from airport - they even dropped us off at our next hotel in Oia. The driver who also is the porter and cleaner ?George is soooo nice!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a good sized balcony... We only had a small one.

We stayed only one night in Fira but booked Dream Island on recommendation from a friend of a friend. I wish we has stayed longer before transferring to Crete! The family that runs the hotel were so comforting and warm and truly made us feel like they could help with anything we needed. They picked us up from the city square when we arrived and drove us down to the port to meet our ferry when we fleet (no charge!). Very accommodating and friendly. I fell in love with Athena, the sweet white dog who stays at the hotel with them during the day, the big beautiful pool, the hammock, the the reds and cobblestones, and the great location. We were pleased with our clean room, great movies in English on satellite, fruit and water in the room, and modern bathrooms. The bed was a little smaller than some of our other hotels, but was hardly an issue. I see people complain about the breakfast but honestly you have to be crazy not to want to eat their huge breakfast buffet. Ours included Greek yogurt and honey, fresh fruit and syrups, some of the best pastries and croissants I've ever had, ham and cheese omlettes, bacon, sausage, fried and boiled eggs, cereals with milk, fresh orange juice, coffee, etc. Our stay was so special and awesome and I would stay at this hotel again for days and days! If you're going to Fira, BOOK HERE! You won't regret it.

stayed at this hotel in 2011 august for a week. picked it as it was close to area we wanted to stay in, and at top of town hill. were there for son's wedding-his house was close by.
Dream Island is just that, what a place. It wasn't there in 2004, and we found it on hotel search for this particular area in 2011-- no steps and good parking fit our liking. As other post, owner picked us up early in a.m, room was spotless, and the whole place is magical. Others in party liked it as well and moved from caldera hotel to stay-lucky to get room. all items were at hand, and family running the hotel was so helpful. pool, cabanas etc. like a dream.

Room Tip: note- can't speak to fitness centre- we did not use. the hills in santorini are our fitness cent...

I was delighted by my stay. The family was helpful and accommodating in every way possible, including letting me book in five hours early (coming straight from 23 hours of flying!), holding my bag for ten days while I was away on a sailing trip, fruit and water in the room, carrying bags at every possible opportunity, I could not have asked for more. They are kind and attentive people and made my stay delightful. And the breakfast! Oh, the breakfast! It was AMAZING. I will certainly be back.

I just spent 3 nights at Dream Island Hotel with my friend as we travelled the Greek islands this August. We couldn't have had a nicer experience here! The family who run the hotel were so helpful and friendly, they made us feel very welcome from beginning to end. They picked us up from the airport on the first day, and took us to the port on our last day - free of charge! The room was a little small for two people with two suitcases, but nevertheless was tastefully decorated and pleasant to stay in. The shower is also a bit of a squeeze, but no reason not to stay here. The pool area was lovely, and we found it very relaxing here. There is a lovely hammock overlooking the pool too. The family were always on hand if you needed anything (I broke a glass in the room and they came an cleaned it up straight away) and to offer helpful advice about the area. They made you feel as if you had been welcomed into their home. The hotel is also in a great location about 5 mins from the centre of Fira and close to the bus station where you can get a bus to any of the beaches around the island easily. I would agree with some comments on here that the breakfast was average - if you like a mean cooked breakfast you may wish to go somewhere else. But we didnt mind this breakfast ourselves, there was bread, eggs, cereal and bacon - it was fine. I would 100 % recommend anyone to stay here and will definitely come back.
