A vacation spot...that could have been a honeymoon, we reveled in the serenity of Santorini in the winter. Fanes, the owner of Aroma Suites, and the idyllic setting of the hotel truly became a home to us - even if it was only a few days. He offered very reliable suggestions about where to go and what to do and was always available to help out. He picked us up and dropped us off at the airport and we even met his wife and daughter. Coffee on the terrace overlooking the sea was a highlight, as was the perfect sunset from the upper roof patio of the hotel. The rooms were like warm, welcoming caverns built into the architecture of the town. They were elegant, romantic, and very cozy, but equipped with perks like satellite tv, a bathtub and a fridge.
I hope to go back soon!

This is a litlle piece of haven, a small boutique hotel, well located in Fira, with the best views possible of the Caldera and the sunset. The manager is very helpfull and can provide some glasses of wine to celebrate the wonderfull choice.

The only concern about my room it was the lack of privacy due to very thin curtains on the windows and door. Very romantic but not so practical...

We enjoyed the last couple of days of 2007 and brought in 2008 on the breathtaking island of Santorini. We were lucky to stay at Aroma Suites which really gives the best perspective of the island and views. Even though it was winter and the majority of shops & restaurants were closed, that magic view is always there to behold. We were blessed with blue skies and mild days for the 4 days we were there. Yes it was very quiet, but you could still find places to eat and shop. My husband & I didn't miss the hordes of people, but our 3 teenage kids did!

Our room was the quadruple cave house , with an extra bed. There is a small kitcenette which is just a sink, fridge and hotplates(no oven or microwave). There weren't enough utensils/crockery/cutlery for our family which were especially necessary as breakfast wasn't provided in winter. The bathroom has a hand held shower with no shower screen and was a bit tricky to master. It felt musty and damp in the bathroom which obviously has no natural ventilation being deep within the cave. The room was large enough but unfortunately only a curtain separated the main sleeping area from the second bedroom. One of our children was unwell and coughed all night which kept us all awake.

We didn't get to meet the famous Fanes who was taking a well deserved break, but were well looked after by his brother who also spoke excellent English. On the second morning when the brother enquired as to how we all slept, we told him that our daughter wasn't well and was there any spare room available for her? A quick phone call to Fanes resulted in our daughter being given her own separate room with ensuite for absolutely NO EXTRA COST. We were overwhelmed by such kindness. I think this gesture sums up how professional and caring Fanes & his brother are. OK the place was quiet & the room wasn't in use, but to give it to us for free was something special.

Back to the rooms - we were really pleased with the accommodation despite the matters mentioned earlier. We bought some disposable cups etc and did manage to make a few meals. Both rooms had great charm and when you venture out - the views are spectacular. The second room allocated was very small, but had everything a couple would need - including a better shower than the cave room.

Aroma Suites is in a brillant postion being close to central Thira, has enormous character, is well appointed and run by genuinely caring people - all situated on one of the most beautiful places which we call our little piece of heaven!

“Thank you Fanes”

Aroma Suites

We arrived at the Aroma Suites 7 am in a February morning, without confirming a reservation, we took for granted someone will be at the reception, unfortunately accommodation in Santorini does not necessary operate in that way, esp Feb is a low holiday season. We called the owner, Fanes, he arrived 10-15 minutes later and helped us settled down in no time.

I have to agree with most other reviewers, Fanes was extremely hospitable. He fixed us up with a rental car, introduced us to all the must-go attractions, and restaurants which were still open during this season.

The suites are the typical white houses, the room is clean and it's like a cave, with wi-fi access everywhere.

From the patio outside the room, is the breathtaking Caldera view, that itself is a true attraction.

It only takes 5-10 minutes walk to the town square.

When we were there, Fanes was busy refurbishing the premises, getting ready for the holiday season.

Looking forward to a trip back again.
