“Beautiful & Relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

Situated about 2km away from the main Fira town centre, Volcano View Hotel is perched on the cliff with an unobstructed view of the Volcano and a partial view of Skaros Rock. It is away from the main tourist centres of Oia and Fira, so it makes for a very relaxing and peaceful get-away. When we stayed, the hotel was full - but we never felt like it was over-populated or resources were running thin.

When we arrived - we were put into a twin room - after we had requested a King, however, the front desk team were very accommodating and moved us the next night to a much nicer King Room overlooking the pool. Our room was attached to the main building, but i would enquire about staying in a room down the 'cliff' a little, as your balcony looks directly over the water and cliffs - whereas our room was a bit more 'inland' than that.
The pools were ok - no infinity pool, though.
Breakfast was nice and much the same every morning; greek yoghurt, fruits, eggs, greek pastries, greek cookies & some sausages in pastry and croissants. You can make instant coffee yourself in the self-serve machine - but if you want a latte and order it from the counter you will have to pay extra - 4 Euro.
Service in the restaurant was really friendly - make sure you get to know Kostas, who is part of the F&B team in the hotel. He will most likely serve you dinner or breakfast at some point during your stay. He is extremely friendly and is always happy to help with any questions or queries - he has quite a sense of humour too!
The restaurant for dinner was nice - although a bit pricey. We loved the calamari and the tomato balls.
The rooms at Volcano View Hotel are not magnificent, but - guaranteed, you will not be staying in your room often - you will be sitting outside on the balcony or by the pool - which is really comfortable.

Volcano View was excellent. Our maisonette was spacious, clean, and had great views of the caldera. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was good too because it was away from the crowds. The only disappointment is the Internet availability. We did not have Internet in our room - we had to hang in the lobby to get online. When I search for a hotel booking Internet is a requirement. Volcano View advertises that they have Internet, but fail to state that not every room has it.

Volcano view hotel is on different levels of a cliff side about 2 kms outside Fira. The hotel provides a bus several times a day for drop off and pick up in Fira. The rooms are basic but clean with a small sitting area outside each room. Small kitchen area with a few dishes (small shop located across the road from hotel to buy any supplies needed). Breakfast included in cost which offered a variety of items. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great view with amazing sunsets. Would go back again to this location.

Amazing hotel views.
All hotel services from room amenities and cleanliness 10/10
Hotel staff were very all very nice and helpful for getting around and any information.
Just of out town which was nice & getting around purposes with free hotel transport to town / airport
We recommend to Hire an ATV or smart car (at hotel) to see the whole island during your stay to not waste any time you have there which is cheep!
Amazing cocktails at the pool bar! And reasonable on price.

We (family of 4) stayed here 4 nights in the last week of June in 2 adjacent cliff rooms. The rooms were clean and well appointed. We liked the vaulted ceiling and the cave like qualities including the giant rock imbedded in the wall of the bathroom! The hotel has 3 pools and the layout on multiple levels spread the guests out so it never felt crowded.

We liked the proximity to Fira and found it to be a good base to explore the island. It's probably too far to walk to Fira from this location. We rented 3 quad bikes which were delivered to the hotel in 10min. and had a blast riding all over the island visiting the wineries, beaches and many breathtaking vistas.

The hotel restaurant was better than we expected...the steak was not great but the seafood, salads and appetizers were all great...really, I would eat there tomorrow if I could.

Service was excellent in every area of the hotel from top to bottom.

There is a mini mart across the street that sold Assertico (local) wine and Uzo so keeping the room stocked with drinks and snacks was no problem.

We really enjoyed our stay in Santorini and the VVV hotel was a big part of it!

I would recommend this hotel to anyone!!

Room Tip: All the cliff room have a veranda and awesome views, we preferred these to the rooms at street level...

I heard about Volcano View on Matt Barrett's website. I think since they have become more popular in recent years their prices have gone up some. Not saying it is overpriced, but I think it's on par with all of the other caldera view hotels, where before it was somewhat cheaper.

Anyway, we got upgraded to a better room when we arrived, probably because we were only staying 1 night. Our room had a small kitchenette and an upstairs loft with private balcony. It was quite nice, but this particular unit was quite old. The view from the room really was special and everything was quite clean inside.

The hotel was very busy and there weren't nearly enough loungers around the pools for everyone. The restaurant has the same amazing view as the rooms and the meal was tasty. I got the seafood risotto and my wife ordered the chicken souvlaki. Both meals were very good and we got to enjoy the food while the sun was setting. Some of their meals seemed quite overpriced though.

Breakfast buffet was quite good with lots of options. We didn't get a seat outside unfortunately, but there are only so many to go around.

The hotel is a cab ride into the heart of Fira. Supposedly it is only supposed to cost 6 Euro, but our cabbie ripped us off and charged us 10.

Excellent view, clean rooms and helpful staff. Highly recommended hotel.

Not only is this hotel outstanding, but the staff played a huge role in making our experience in Greece absolutely perfect! We became very acquainted with Miss Ardemous Paggette, sooo helpful & nice, that she actually hooked us up with a villa when we decided to extend our stay for another night!!! And just as an FYI, it was the one the Kardashians stayed in, as a 22 year old that was very exciting hehe. Even when we missed the buffet for breakfast, they went out of their way to make us omelettes. The view from the hotel, the luxurious villas, the food, the pools, the staff...I can't say enough. Definitely a 5 star resort.
