“Lovely hotel in a great location with great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

My family and I have just got back from a lovely trip to the beautiful island of Santorini and one of the things that made the trip as great as it was, was the wonderful Astro Palace Hotel. Now it's not overlooking the caldera and it isn't right in Fira town but that's what made it great for us. It's within walking distance from busy Fira town but it's also just enough distance to feel like in your own private oasis of calm.

When you arrive at the hotel, the staff are wonderful and run through a little history of the island, they suggest things you can do while your in town and even offer to reserve restaurants, cars, ATVs etc for you which is really useful and we took them up on some restaurant recommendations and ATV rental. We even arranged airport transfers before we left the UK through the hotel so didn't have to worry about that while we were there.

The hotel itself is lovely - exactly as it looks on the website. The rooms were lovely and big and decorated nicely. We did have some issues with the shower, but they were very minor. We didn't use the spa but took a tour and it looked really nice. The breakfast included was more than enough to satisfy fussy eaters and it filled us up until lunchtime when it was time to get a gyro (couldn't get enough of these while we were there). I loved the look of the suites, especially with the roof terrace, but they were a little out of my price range - maybe next time.

We spent a couple of nights in the hotel at the pool bar. It's a bit expensive (12 euros for a cocktail) but for ease sake, it fits the bill. The staff really look after you though so that makes up for the bar tab you can rack up.

All in all, we had the best time in Santorini. It's a beautiful island and our trip was made all the better for being able to stay in such a lovely hotel. Would definitely recommend and if I'm lucky enough to go back to Santorini then I'll definitely be visiting the Astro Palace again.

Even though it is not overlooking the caldera, it is an excellent location as it is within walking distance to Fira town and it is spacious and good parking (no need to walk through the narrow and winding steps to access certain hotels in Fira town itself, not an easy feat with big luggagges). I actually prefer that it is not located in Fira town itself as it is congested and may not be accessible with a car.
Great staff and we were very lucky to be upgraded to the suite with our own private pool.
Very good spread for breakfast and the lady who is serving the breakfast room is always cheerful, friendly and helpful.
We also had dinner there beside the pool and I loved the lamb kleftiko (must try) and the tomato keftedes. Delicious!

After 7 hours in the ferry the best thing that happened to us is to have one night in this hotel as we didn't like our hotel and I found one night in this hotel at a good price. It's a real 5 stars hotel and the staff is really professional and it's 5 minutes walk to the heart of fira and we enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. They upgraded us to junior suite and we had our own private swimming pool. The only negative side that it doesn't have a volcano view as its not on the cliff side but this is shouldn't underestimate the value of the hotel. The employees were really kind and helpful and if I come again to fira I will stay in this hotel

I travel all over Europe for business and have stayed at many hotels - I must say this compares with the best of them. The value compared to other hotels in Santorini is astonishing. A short walk to the restaurants and bars of Fira and easy access to the rest of the Island.

My partner and I were looking for a relaxing getaway for a week (which is rare nowdays) so we were quite picky when choosing the hotel.

The rooms are in great order and the pool is relaxing with table service from a well kept bar. The staff were incredibly attentive and helpful. Special thanks to Anna the manager who helped with arranging restaurant bookings as well as giving us advice on where to stay on the Island (just don't ask about her friend Maria!!)

Walk from the hotel to Fira port and back if you dare. We had a great time and will come again.

Room Tip: Book a superior room and ask foo sea view

The hotel isn't five star. The breakftast has very low quality and the service was very poor. Itsn't caldera view hotel and and the it is very expensive for the offered services. You can find a better hotel in Santorini. Also the pool is small and not in accordance with the official photos.

Room Tip: The rooms are spacy but not something special for the required price.

We had a wonderful stay at Astro Palace!

Hotel staff at reception and at the pool were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel lobby and grounds are so beautiful and very well kept. The pool is lovely with great bar food and drinks. Our room was also really great! Very big, well decorated and very comfortable bed. We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast.

The location is good- it is a short (uphill) walk into Fira town and bus station (which will take you to the beaches).

I would recommend this hotel to other travelers visiting Santorini who wish to stay in Fira.

We booked the hotel so. we could spend our last day in Greece on the Island of Santorini. Upon Arrival the staff were friendly , looking after our every need, Anna Maria ( the Hotel Sales Manager escorted us to our room, and she offered us hints on were to go and what to do. So if you want a perfect hotel for a romantic stay on one of Greece's most amazing Islands , then this is the hotel to stay at.

We will be back next year.

Thank you for everything
