“Great place to stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

What a fantastic hotel/resort in Santorini. Close enough to the Caldera but far enough away for relaxation. The staff are amazing and so helpful. The pool area, breakfast, spa, everything was great but the room size was fabulous. Big rooms with big bathrooms, hard to find anywhere in Europe. Will definitely stay here again. Loved it.

The hotel is well located (5 mins walk from the main town bus/taxi stop etc but away from the madding crowd, especially in August). The rooms are very clean and large and the pool/bar are excellent. The best part of all are the staff....every single staff member is polite, helpful, friendly and happy to go out of their way to help. Apologies for not remembering all the names but a big THANK YOU to Ireni, Christina, Alex, and all the team there. Cannot say enough good things about all of you and hope to see you again....Isabel from London.

Room Tip: We spent the first 3 days in the main building and the views were not so good but the bathroom was n...

I have recently stayed in the Asto Palace with a girlfriend and we had a really lovely time. The hotel is located walking distance from all amenities in Fira, which allows you to go out at night without having the nightmare of driving in a rented car, on unknown roads, and desperately trying to find a car parl. Fira is where everything happens at night (you may want to be on the beach during the day, see the sunset in Oia, but then if you are looking for a bit of fun, Fira is the place to be). The proximity comfortable enough to be walking in high heels but far away enough from the clubs to be able to sleep without having to use ear-plugs. The rooms are nice, the suites are very very nice (very romantic with lovely private pools) - we tried them both, staff are incredibly kind and helpful, and the pool area offer spectacular views of the sea. The hotel is generally a very good, especially considering its "value/for money", on an island where yes there are lots of luxury small hotels that may offer more luxurious services but at a much, much, MUCH dearer price.

Room Tip: Go for the suite if you can!

The hotel was fairly new so very clean and modern. The staff however, were absolutely amazing and it is they who have persuaded me to write my first ever review on TripAdvisor.

Wonderful place. Would highly recommend Astro Palace and Santorini in general.

And take the advice of the staff when booking excursions - especially the sunset cruise where you should go for the luxury option. It was worth every penny.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the pool not the sea as you can get some external noise from outside the hote...

Besides the fact that personnel behaviour has been unequivalent to our needs, the quality of the food provided has been far from the expectations generated by the total cost.. Instead of fresh, local products, common and tasteless choices, with no fantasy and 'meraki'. It seems that some Greeks have not realised the magnitude and the consequences of the crisis and I could say they deserve its aftermath.. Pity..

Stayed in August 2012. Hotel is nice, but it's no where near 5 star status. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable, with nice furniture. There were a few cosmetic repairs to the walls that should have been done more sympathetically, but it was clean and comfortable which was all we needed.

The pool is a little small and was in need of a clean more often. The staff make the place, they are all very friendly and helpful. Great location for the town.

We got at a good rate for a few days and split our stay with another hotel in kamari. We would stay again if the price was right, but there are probably better options in Santorini.

Room Tip: Room 231 gives you a view over the sea, the majority view the pool which is fine, but the we view ws...

The hotel is definately NOT 5 stars. Because of the high price and subsequently what you get, it is poor when you consider what an actual 5 star hotel includes. The rooms are clean, the staff are nice & the location is not far from town (about 5 mins or less walk to the bus station which is about 100m from the town of fira itself.) We stayed in a suite, where the bedroom was a loft (very poorly designed by the way). It was quite warm to say the least as it was upstairs. They did have an air conditioner but it was one of those large, loud portable ones which didnt really provide for a good nights sleep. You only got 2 pillows and the bed itself wasnt comfortable. The private pools are tiny, cold and a stupid idea. 5 x 3m. Ice cold. The shower occasionally didnt provide hot water so you needed to wait 10 or so mins and try again. There was even unfinished pipes coming out of the ground in the bathroom. If you think im being picky, consider that no normal 5 star hotels have unfinished pipes hanging out of the ground! These were all issues that other people on tripadvisor brought up and we dismissed thinking these people were overly picky but they were right! Its not worth the money they charge so heed this warning if you are considering a suite
