“The ultimate luxury”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

While clearly not the cheapest hotel around (and on Santorini everywhere costs more, even before you start) the service was incredible at this hotel. Also the breakfast (included) was the best I've ever had (you want smoked salmon and champagne sir? Or a chicken crepe? Or fruit and yoghurt? Or all of them? Certainly sir).

If you spend the day by the (rather small) pool they constantly bring you free stuff, including a mint nougat "submarine" and later a rather odd ginger drink. Nothing is too much trouble. Towels everywhere (and huge ones), jacuzzi in your room, chocolate on your pillow, fruit in your room every day, newspapers appear, etc.

We only ate in once, because it was 80 euros for the two of us, but the food was certainly good, though small portions. Incredible views from our room and from the sun terrace and the pool.

Only 5 mins walk to centre of Oia, but you do have to do that if you want to see the sun set - the sun leaves the hotel at about 5pm. But you do get it in the morning.

Even when the hotel was full you would never have known it, it was really quiet.

If someone else was paying I could live here for ever.

Room Tip: All great, all have same view

The location of the hotel is excellent, I would dare to call it one of the best locations Santorini has to offer. The Caldera side is packed with hotels but the unique experience about mystique is that you neither look down onto other hotels’ terraces nor have other hotels’ guests looking down onto your terrace. Mystique offers the impression on a highly touristy island to be in total privacy.
Privacy is a bit limited to location though because staff are trying to make your stay „cosy“. That can sometimes turn into the opposite and make you feel like a schoolkid under observation.
Staff is very friendly and helpful, but not the most efficient. They are doing their best to offer you the perfect stay. Breakfast is very delicious and makes up for the fact that the waiters are struggling with simple orders.
Each of them seemed to be trained on the questions „what did you do/ what are you going to do today?“ We ended up reporting subsequently to around 5 different staff our daily programme, listening to comments such as „you went to that restaurant? It is not good. You should have gone to ...“ Especially the manager sometimes comes across like a control freak. The feeling of being interrogated, consulted and commented put quite a shadow to the whole stay.
Everything at Mystique is perfectly designed and the composition of colours and shapes in addition to this relaxing bird’s eye view are truely special.
The hotel has arguably the best view of the Caldera since in Fira you look directly onto the volcano and in Oia more to the east you have sunset view but not this mindblowing composition of a carpet of an ocean with some rocky islands far behind. Looking down from mystique is pure harmony.

When we arrived we got an upgrade from vibrant to allure suite, a very nice gesture. The jacuzzi that came with the upgrade was enjoyed every day!
Although it dampens the whole suite where circulation is bad due to the cave architecture and gives the suite the smell of an indoor swimming pool, it was absolutely relaxing to sit in bubbling water whilst looking down onto the caldera.

I can recommend the hotel to people who adore perfect style, heartbreaking views and who are not disturbed by some invasive smalltalk with a swarm of staff.
As for me, I will never forget the view and design of this special place but won’t come again for the lack of discretion.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for choosing Mystique for your stay in Santorini, last September. We were disappointed to read that we didn’t meet the high expectations we aim to provide. We listen to the feedback from all our guests and carry out the appropriate action to improve ourselves and services.

We are happy to learn that you find the property, location, breakfast and cave architecture prime and spectacular as well as most areas of our service. This is indeed great encouragements in our objective to continuously improve our performance and thoroughly delight our guests. Moreover, we are pleased to know you enjoyed the upgrade and the Jacuzzi.

Further to your kind indication concerning the discretion and control, please be advised that being a seasonal hotel and having just reopened for the season, most of our last year associates are no longer with us, including some of the managers. Therefore we find ourselves in the unpleasant position not being able to really acknowledge and investigate the issues you mention above.

Nevertheless, we will keep in mind your valued comments in order to avoid such a repetition this year .

Lastly, we would like to thank you for taking the time to share with us your feedback and thoughts and we do hope you enjoyed your overall stay at Mystique. We wish to see you again in the future to offer you an amazing stay.

Kind regards,
Georgia Kafantaraki

We went for our honeymoon and had the most relaxing time. We will definitely return one day! Great location for Oia. The steps arent a problem. Just a good workout! Best breakfast! I love the fact that they got the mint out of the garden for my mojito. 5 star service!

We stayed at Mystique in August 2012 for 5 nights. The hotel has a wonderful location with signature Santorini views of the caldera and typical Cycladic influence. We were indecisive between this property and Grace hotel in Imerovigli, but were happy we stayed at Mystique given it's proximity to the center of Oia. Oia is much more charming that Fira, full of pedestrian streets, cute dining options and shops and access to Ammoudi Bay waterside fish restaurants.

OVERALL
While Mystique is a luxury hotel with beautiful views and nice quality rooms, we did feel it was overpriced considering the small pool, very spotty service (not once did staff get our breakfast order right or not once did housekeeping provide consistent service) but the staff means well and has a positive and friendly attitude. We do have to say that the porter/bellhops were the best staff, real professionals with proactive approaches, smiles and saved the service rating here. It's a solid upscale luxury option if you are visiting Santorini and want access to the quaint mountaintop villages but also the volcanic beaches as hotel guests are able to use the sister property's Vedema beach club - easily accessible if you rent a scooter, 4-wheeler or car.

ROOMS
We stayed in a Vibrant Suite and while the terrace was smaller than Allure category, the rooms are a good size although the cave like structure does make the bathrooms in the back a bit dark and claustrophobia-inducing but that's the nature of the architecture.

ACTIVITIES
There is no fitness center, but the location along the cliff means dozens of stairs so that's a workout in itself. The spa is quite small and ordinary.

FOOD
The breakfast was delicious, and we dined there once - the setting along the water is very romantic but if you want a jaw-dropping, breath-taking once-in-a-lifetime dinner you must go to Grace Santorini for dinner. The view is absolutely stunning and the cuisine very good, with more sophisticated minimalist design and a hipper ambience than Mystique. We kind of wished we had stayed there, but I do think Mystique has a much better location that does outweigh the cool factor of Grace.

Hands down the most beautiful place i've traveled too, and i went to 6 different countries on this same trip. The food is fresh, the views are breathtaking and the people are so friendly. The hotel is carved into the side of the mountain and so unique. I want to go back for my honeymoon.

We were picked up at the airport for transfer to the Mystique Hotel (transfer is included in room price) The hotel is on the side of a hill with about 20 steps down. The two bellmen carried all of our bags to our room on their backs and with a smile on their faces! We were impressed!
Our room and every room for that matter has a spectacular view of the sea!
The staff was delightful...they definitely spoiled us through our 3 night stay. We enjoyed the restaurant for two wonderful dinners and a hearty breakfast every morning. Our complements to the chef and restaurant staff...also the bartender makes a great Bloody Mary!
They have a lovely spa, where we had a massage and my thanks to Balu for a relaxing time!
We would recommend this hotel to our family and friends!
Thank you again for a exceptional experience!

Room Tip: Fabulous views from every room...all the suites are different and we loved our room!

Mystique has very unique location on the island. Walking distant to the market and close to the feature churches. Every room has an unlimited view from its windows. Cave suites are great and specially designed with tastes. It is exactly as clean and new as what you see from their website!

We had our private wedding ceremony at the hotel. From reservation to making arranging for the cake and photographer, the reception staff are very helpful and provided everything we asked for in a professional manner!

For dinning venue, we first planned to try something in the local neighborhood but then found that it's really not our tastes...so we tried their Charisma restaurant and is quite good and you can enjoy wine tasting in their wine cave or you can enjoy candle light dinner there. I would say it's value for the price, especially to a Luxury Collection hotel.
