I travel a lot for work and for pleasure and it is a rare property that captures my attention as truly deserving of a 6 star rating.

After reading Tripadvisor this property appealed. We were not disappointed. The location was "breathtaking" in the true sense of the word. Our room (Melissa) comfortable - high on the cliff - with only a few steps to reach the office and very private. Other rooms further down the cliff will require more steps to negotiate. Minor issues were dealt with in what I could only describe as exceptionally quickly and efficiently. The staff were personable, friendly and just so obliging - nothing was a problem. Their suggestions on things to do and where to eat were spot on. We found places that we would never have considered. They organised tours as well as car hire. We couldn't find fault with anything.

Breakfast is served on your own private deck - the quality of which was excellent. The pool, whilst not large afforded great views. The room was large with a deck with 2 sun loungers, plus a 2 chairs and table. The view - picture postcard material.

Oia is an excellent choice as it is away from Fira which suffers from cruise ship innundation. Travellers of any nationality who travel en masse are daunting. Fira attracts large cruise ships on a daily basis (on one day there were 6) and they swarm ashore - sadly too many, including their guides, ignore basic good manners as they move around. Make your plans to visit Fira and other popular destinations on the island accordingly. They do visit Oia, but as the main street is a pedestrian thoroughfare there presence is a little more manageable, but at times they can crowd the area. Fortunately they do not stay long.

As far as Atrina is concerned I would give it a well earned 6 stars - simply stunning. look no further.

Me and my wife went to Greece on our honeymoon and chose Atrina Traditional Houses for our stay in Santorini (3 days), and I'm very glad we made this choice.

We arrived at the port and went to the hotel in a transfer we had already arranged together with the reservations. Like every other greek driver, it was an adventure! they drive like crazy not only in this island but all over Greece! lol

We stayed at the senior suite (the honeymoon suite was already taken for the days we had), and we were gladly surprised when we arrived, since the room was just amazing. Athina (one of the owners) offered us a great reception. She gave us a cell phone to order breakfast options in the morning and eventually use it in the island if needed. She also had a bottle of chilled Santorini wine complimentary for us.

We arrived at sunset, so our first impression was watching the sun go down in the caldera from our private balcony while drinking chilled wine and listening to romantic music (yes, there was a radio in the room with some romantic CDs). My wife cried. We were just happy.

The furniture of the room was very beautiful (antique - my wife loved it). The bed very comfortable, the bathroom was very big with a GREAT shower (brand new). There was also a closet. The living room was big with a small kitchen integrated. The whole set up was great and with lots of space. One of the reasons we picked the Senior Suite was that it was on the side of the hotel, avoiding people walking in front of the room.

The breakfast was very nice too. The yoghurt, specially, was great. You wake up in the morning and use the cell phone to call for your breakfast, telling which of the options you want. Someone comes and sets up the balcony with what you ordered and you eat while the morning sun enlightens the Caldera.

The view of the caldera is amazing. You almost dont want to leave the room!

The staff was all very very friendly, specially Athina. She was extremely helpful getting us reservations in restaurants and car rentals.

The pool was great too, with nice service.

We rent a car and explored the island, going to the beaches in south (red beach, perissa, and other 2 i dont remember now). We went also to the Prophet Elias church, at the highest point of the island.

We preferred to dine at Oia, and 2 restaurants we recommend are Red Bicycle and 1800. If you have the money (and you gotta be willing to pay), you cant miss these 2. We had the Cod fish at Red Bicycle and it was memorable.

If you have the money I really recommend this hotel and staying in Oia. It was the best experience I had. Ever.

Room Tip: We stayed at the senior suites. It is GREAT. You can see the rooms in detail (inside and outside) at...

What an amazing place! I don't this its possible to capture how awesome this hotel is in one review.
From the moment we arrived to the time we left we thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel.
The view of the caldera is stunning. The room was very large and very comfortable. We stayed in the Canava suite, which is one of their Junior Suites.
They serve you full breakfast each morning on your personal terrace.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Very friendly and efficient.

We checked out other hotels while we were here decided that we had the best one in Oia.
We will definitely return to this hotel as soon as possible.

Room Tip: to me it looked like all the rooms were great. they do have a few rooms with Jacuzzis on their balco...

An amazing place! for once, all the pictures shawn did nod deceive upon arrival! Beautiful and large room, nice balcony - perfect for the breakfast - with an breathtaking view over the Caldeira. Courteous staff, excellent recommandations for restaurants. Even though all the rooms are close to each other, you feel like you have your private appartment. Could not ask more for a week on the island. And Oia is much better than Thira.

Santorini : Oia : Atrina : WOW !!!!!

After a lot of deliberation we zeroed in on staying in Oia town. The right choice !!!

After a 45 min drive from the port, we arrived at gorgeous Oia town, to be greeted by the man of the hour, Costa who took all our bags to our room in one go!!

We were booked in the Junior suite but had to change to the Canava, due to an air conditioning problem. Athena the owner was very welcoming and made sure we had a comfortable stay throughout.

The Junior suite had 2 rooms and a nice living area, the toilet however as mentioned by other guests was tiny and inconvenient.

The Canava had one big room with a huge bathroom (bathing, wc, and basin area all separate !!) and a living room in which they accomodated our children, as the Junior suite was for 4 ppl and this was not... no complaints though :). The living room of Canava has a small bathroom which was convenient.

The kitchen area of both rooms was well equipped. The VIEW .... from both rooms was picture perfect and no image can do justice to it.

The breakfast service was immaculate and came exactly at the time we wanted it each day. We were given a mobile phone to reach the reception and the room service. We could use it to call them while we were away from the hotel in case we wanted any help or recommendations.

The pool was ever so gorgeous as our pictures would say... but you have to be there to experience it. Still remember the wine we sipped as we soaked in the sun.

There are loads of restaurants and mini markets just a few mtrs away from Atrina, as it is situated in the begining of Oia town and the town is not too big anyways.

There are 2 bus stops, one that is close to the hotel (3 min walk) and the other that is a 10-12 min walk behind the church going down. July being a busy time of the year, I recommend taking the bus at the further end as it tends to get full by the time it reaches the closer bus stop. (1.40 euros pp one way to Fira)

Our dream stay would not have been as magical had it not been for Atrina...small touches like the complimentary bottle of wine, the romantic tea light lanterns at night and the friendly and helpful staff and service..

Thank you Athena, Melanie, Andreana, Costa (the strongest man in Greece) ... and all the others at Atrina. A big hug from my younger son to Rockafella the cute pug at the reception.

It was much more than we budgeted, but take our advice.. it was worth every penny, as in a place like Oia, you will regret if you compromise on the view.

We are coming back for sure !!!

Room Tip: The higher up the better.. less steps to climb All the rooms have gorgeous views

We recently returned from 5 nights in the Xenonas Honeymoon suite at Atrina Traditional Houses. We could not have asked for a more perfect honeymoon! The staff was wonderful and went above and beyond to make sure our time there was extra special. At check-in, we were given a mobile phone for our entire stay and were greeted in our room with chilled wine and rose petals. The room was fabulous and the views were spectacular. Xenonas Suite is very private and comes with a wonderful hot tub on the balcony overlooking the Caldera. The room was spacious and came with all extras that one would expect with the service to match. We were given the option of 3 different breakfast choices every morning which were delivered right to our balcony, and was enough food to cover breakfast and lunch! The pool area is also fabulous with amazing views and service to match. The location is incredible, right on the edge of the cliff in Oia along the main pedestrian walkway near all shops and restaurants. Athina and her staff is also very helpful with setting up day activities such as car rentals, catamaran trips, and providing any information about the area.

Special thanks to Athina and her staff for going out of their way to make our honeymoon so special. Unfortunately when the time came to leave, we had to depart at 5am to catch a flight, and Athina and one of her staff got up early with us to see us off, bring our luggage to the bus and wish us well--this was way above and beyond what was necessary and one of the many reasons why we were so happy with our stay. We already know we want to return for an anniversary, and we can't wait to return and stay here again!
