“Unique and Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

Incredible views of the sunset over the caldera, the harbor below and just a stunning panorama from each of the unique and traditional rooms, more truly suites as they are 2-3 rooms with a small kitchenette, which look just like the brochure. If you can imagine a high-end, well appointed cave that is bright and airy you've got the picture. You won't want to miss sunset every night, with a bottle of Santorini white wine, from your porch. Only caveat is that, just like Santorini, the ability to climb steep stairs without fear or physical challenge is an imperative, even within the hotel, as it is built on the side of the cliff. Take advantage of the luggage assistance; this is no do-it-yourself place.
Yvonne and the rest of the staff were supremely friendly and helpful, always welcoming, and ready to suggest or answer questions. The food is traditional, home cooked, fresh and delicious, particularly for lunch and snacks. I would love to visit again!

Room Tip: I saw 4 of the (I believe 10) rooms and all were wonderful. The two story room, with pergola and an...

So happy we decided to stay at Esperas. From the email exchanges, ease of payment, warm welcome, fabulous, clean room offering a dreamy view of the caldera and outlying islands, there was nothing more I could have wanted to realize my longtime dream to visit Santorini. Our first evening we enjoyed a bottle of local wine, compliments of Esperas, while enjoying the best views of the famous sunset.

The following morning, a generous spread of tasty breakfast items energized us to do a 6-mile hike from Oia to Fira. I recommend this walk which offers gorgeous views of the caldera and the other side of the island. By the time we got back to Esperas, we were too tired to trudge back up the stairs into town to go to a restaurant, so we ordered some tasty dishes and enjoyed dinner in a romantic little cave room near the pool.

The pool is very inviting, especially as it was hot when we visited. You can get a drink from the swim up window--how fun! You will lack nothing at Esperas. Wonderful place!

I only wish we'd stayed longer!

Room Tip: All rooms offer fabulous views, but some require taking more stairs than others.

We went to Santorini three years ago and when we decided to return this year we knew that we wanted to stay in exactly the same hotel. When you have found the perfect spot there really is no need to make a change..........

The owners are wonderful & considerate, and everyone that does not stay at Esperas is trying to find a spot on a wall up above in an attempt to see the same sunset that you watch every evening from the terrace with a lovely glass of wine. The town of Oia has wonderful shops & restaurants for the evening......and if you want touristy crowds you can always hike the caldera to Fira or catch a ride............... We will stay at Esperas each and every time we return to Santorini. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

No words to descibe our experience at Esperas, my fiance and I stayed here in july 2010 after coming from the world cup, the staff are second to none they really care about you! the room we recieved was beautiful and very clean the views were breathtaking it was like living in a dream we never wanted it to end! breakfast was so delicious! location can't be beat Oia is so beautiful! we loved the little paths around Oia, if you go you must go down to amoudi and eat at the sunset taverna, during checkout they found out my fiance collects magnets and gave her a few and made her day, this may have been the best experiance we EVER had at a hotel and we've been to 20 countries maybe more by now, we are starting to try to plan our wedding and this is where I'm hoping we'll be staying for it!

We just returned from our trip to Greece and our stay in Oia was one of the favorites. I have been to Santorini 5 times and have stayed all over the island. The hotel has a perfect location overlooking Ammoudi harbor, perfect spot for the famous sunsets, and beautiful surroundings.
The cave rooms are a perfect representation of true traditional houses in Santorini (I have stayed in many of this style). Though the hotel strives to give you the authentic 'traditional' feel, there are a few upgrades I feel should be made when you consider the nightly expensive cost for the hotel. The mattresses and pillows are very hard, and the pillows lumpy with the imprint of other people's heads in the pillow. The shower head was cracked and spraying everywhere soaking anything in the bathroom. Also the lounge chairs by the pool are old and pretty uncomfortable.
Other than those slight complaints the rest of the hotel stay was perfect. Definitely where you want to stay if you want a quiet - not to be bothered, romantic stay. The staff was very helpful and kind. Breakfast was decent, but you're truly paying for that perfect view.

Room Tip: Room 103 has a perfect little balcony to take your breakfast to and enjoy some quiet time.

There have been some places we have been to in the world but had never realised that 4 hours away by plane we would come across this wonderful gem!
All the positive things that people are saying could never actually prepare you from the bliss you will find in this perfect place!
Thank you to everyone and everything to do with Esperas for 8 days of sheer bliss.
We will be back!

Room Tip: Room 118 was the furthest room down the steps and to us was perfect, there again all rooms would be!
