“A little bit of heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

Suited in an exceptional location is this fantastic hotel - Perivolas. It is the original hotel based on traditional Greek house architecture.. A lot of others have cropped up subsequently. Situated in a quiet part of Santorini in the village of Oia, you can spend your time just soaking in silence and beauty - a most therapeutic combination. What sets this place apart is the incredible service that you receive and the attention to detail in everything you experience. The size and impeccable quality of the room, the taste of the food and cocktails, the delicious welcome wine, the amazing infinity pool all speak volumes of the commitment of this place to guest experience. Every single person here is committed to giving you memories that will last a lifetime and they do that passionately. Every thing just gets done and seemingly effortlessly.Excursions are not a "one size fits all" and care is taken to ensure that they fit your requirements. We spent an amazing day on a boat that took just us out to various places where we could snorkel and swim. And we could stop where we wanted and do what we wished with an experienced Captain looking out for us. My personal highlight was when one of the team at Perivolas understood my passion for photography and volunteered to take me out at six in the morning to get some great shots. It takes a passion for service excellence to deliver such an unique experience. Our five days here were just so memorable that as I left, I made a promise to myself to come back again soon. To relax in a little bit of heaven, you must come here!!

Room Tip: For a small family room number 15 is great. And for a wonderful view take room number 18.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay at the Perivolas. The accommodation and service is excellent.

Some specifics:
- we both had massages - brilliant and highly recommended. Very easy to book at reception.
- we had dinner in the hotel 3 times.. Stunning location and amazing to sit outside and eat with such a lovely view. The food and service was excellent and staff turned up to clear plates and serve wine without undue waiting. I have no idea how they did this as the table was so private!
- breakfast was simple and tasty. Eggs beautifully cooked to order.
- staff were all friendly and helpful.
- rooms are lovely they have a Lovely airy feel.

The views are what really makes his resort ... You find yourself stopping mid sentence to gaze at it.

The other notable issue with the resort is the number of day (and cruise ship) visitors there for the view. If you stroll into town for dinner you are likely to get caught in traffic as visitors rush through the town looking for a location from which to take photos.

We had mixed experiences eating out in the resort. we felt most restaurants were very speedy to the point we didn't find anywhere to just sit and chill with a drink before or after a meal.

We extended our stay in Oia by 2 nights and stayed at this lovely cliff-hanging paradise. It was more local to the 'other' hotel we stayed at... a more B&B experience in our view but no less wonderful. The room was spacious and cozy at the same time... all the things you require for a relaxing time to rest those tired feet after hours of sight-seeing. Goes without saying that the views are amazing. Do not forget to take some lovely snapshots of yourselves by the pool.... how often does one get a chance like this! Breakfast was a little basic but still very decent. We found the local touch here more pronounced than the other establishment we stayed at and that made for a better experience all round.

There is no more magnificent view of the Islands of Santorini from the Caldera edge than the one from Perivolas. The cave like suites are enchanting and the pool side view of the ocean, islands and the town of Oia is possibly the most photographed view of Santorini and the Greek Islands. What makes Perivolas so special is the graceful way they provide exceptional service and care. There is nothing that they will not make happen for their guests. The atmosphere of the hotel is a relaxed, free and easy, without pretense. There is no better place to stay in Santorini than Perovilas.

Room Tip: The studio has lounge chairs and private patio so there is no need for the suite with its own pool u...

We went to Santorini for a breakaway weekend and stayed at this spectacular hotel. Our party of 4 (two adults and two teenagers) had the Perivolas suite and superior suite at two ends of the hotel. Both rooms had two double beds. Given the fact that this hotel seems to cater to couples and honeymooners we wondered what the second bed was for :-) We were not offered the option to share one suite, which would have been feasible. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Staff is friendly and attentive. All meals we had were very good. We found that the pool in the Perivolas suite to be noisy at night (machinery in the room and water dripping around the pool) and that the Jacuzzi was on the cold side. The frequent strong winds tend to make the door rattle.
Warning: the following might be TMI to you! Because of the poor state of the island's plumbing, it is asked that no paper is flushed in the toilet. Instead a garbage can is provided. A more elegant solution would have been to provide a bidet.
Don't get me wrong: I am being picky here. This is a great place and very little attention to detail would make it simply perfect. Just walking to Oia is a most pleasant stroll and the views are breathtaking. We were also lucky to have a tour of the island by a great guide, Barbara, who was recommended by the Hotel.
Free wifi is very nice and if it does not always work it is just to remind you that you are there to relax and not to read your emails.

Room Tip: Perivolas suite is huge but also very expensive. The water in the small private pool is cool in mid...

Too much fun with invites from staff, Chrissa and Chara, had an amazing party(too much raki!) down in harbor restaurant below Oia. Many visits to Oia since 1990. It's changed and very popular with too many bus loads heading for one of the sweetest sunset spots on earth. Perivolas quiet and a bit away from it all, yet remains charming and exclusive. Warning for some.....mostly American clientele .....absolutely must stay for well heeled Americans....far nicer than Starwood and SLH places which have popped up here in last 5-6 years.

Have sent a number of friends here since early 90's....none were disappointed.

Met owner for first time.....tells me he opened in the 80's....smart, nice guy!

Room Tip: They are all good, depending on your budget.

Santorini is our favourite island in the world and my husband's 40th was a great opportunity to revisit after several years. This was our first time at Perivolas and it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. The view, our suite, the facilities and the lovely staff - everything made our stay very special. Highly recommended esp. for couples :-)
