“The only thing missing is Poirot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

We only had the opportunity to stay one night at this lovely hotel before moving on and up
towards Le Touquet, and I would love to go back there. The staff at this hotel were all, without exception, top class; The room, with a lovely sea view, was not huge but not small either, and beautifully furnished. We stayed for dinner in the hotel, which was hereagain, beautifully done - the only thing we did not have was breakfast as we wanted to spend a bit of time in the village before leaving.
I would not have been surprised at all, if Poirot had walked in with his cane, for dinner, and I
don`t think anybody would even have blinked. !! Lovely stay - and such a convenient pathway down to the sea shore.

Just spent the weekend at Dormy House - the second time we've stayed there. It was lovely. We had a superior room, with great views across the valley, that was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Access to Etretat and the beach is direct and easy and the hotel has pretty grassy terrace overlooking the beach and cliffs, well equipped with deck chairs and parasols. The restaurant is lovely, with panoramic views across the Channel. The food and service are excellent. Prices are expensive but worth it. The weather was lovely and on Sunday morning we had breakfast outside on the terrace. Highly recommend it for a weekend stay or longer - and for those who like it, there is a golf course right next door. Etretat itself is also lovely and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. I had the best plate of prawns in the world for lunch at a little place on the seafront - freshly caught and delicious. We will be going back!

This place is magic, we stayed overnight heading south and sitting outside with a drink, admiring the amazing view over the bay to the old church opposite was heaven.

It was easy to imagine Peter Ustinov sipping a drink on the patio watching Roger Moore and Sophia Loren winding their way up the drive in an open Alfa Romeo Spyder, so nostalgic of the 60's cinema.

But it's not just a pretty picture, the accommodation, food, staff all first class and we will make a sizeable detour the next time we are in the vicinity.

This is a very nice Hotel on the cliff overlooking the beach at Etretat .The views are lovely and our room which had a sea view was excellent and very comfortable. The restaurant is very good with a nice choice of dishes and our choices were well cooked and presented. If you are booked in on a bed and breakfast basis and wish to have dinner at the restaurant it is essential that you book early at reception as the hotel is well used by business conventions and such like and the restaurant is very popular and can become full. This is not the end of the world, however as the are a number of excellent restaurants in Etretat.
The staff are very professional and pleasant which contributes to a nice stay.

We spent four days at the Dormy House - my fourth or fifth time there over a span of several decades - and were enchanted once again. The hotel, perched over the Etretat beach and the spectacular two Aiguilles, is wonderfully run, with impeccable service and a deep sense of hospitality and customer care. The rooms in the older part of the hotel, all redone in the past few years, have a view of Etretat which is breathtaking.
The dining room also overlooks the beach and the sea, and offers excellent food. The breakfast is wonderful, served on a separate, inside terrace.

Room Tip: Rooms 30/31/32/33 have the view of the town and beach of Etretat. Don't miss the Musee Malraux...

This was our second visit to this hotel and did not disappoint. We only stayed one night so did not ask for a Directoire room as last time. We had a decent view of the sea from the second floor of the new block. If you are staying longer a better room with balconies in the original building is worth it for the pleasure of sitting there with the french windows open enjoying the view. The restaurant meal was good and the restaurant more spacious now. Service, as before, is excellent and friendly. I just like the atmosphere and comfort of this hotel.

Room Tip: Go for the most expensive room you can afford to get the best possible view!
