“Palm Breezy Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

I came across this property by accident...I was facilitating a workshop for UNESCO and needed a place to stay. Arriving at 10pm was not the best time to see things...as well, the electricity was still out and had been for a few hours..(should be no power outages by the end of Nov 2012). In any case my colleague and I were tired and cranky and Che the manager could not have been more helpful in putting us into two very comfortable basic rooms...with ensuite toilet and shower, hot water in shower, and a comfortable bed that has a view to stun you...especially at 6AM when the sun comes up and dazzles the sleep out of you...time for a quick dip in the ocean or the great pool and then a hot shower and on to a grand breakfast. Eggs, toast, fruit, juice, tea, coffee all included with the price of the room.(rooms are AC, fanned, fridges and mozzy nets) Great place on the Indian Ocean, lovely beach with kilometres of white talc like sand and private. Well guarded and maintained, this is a place to treasure, you get a good return on your holiday investment dollar here and the surrounding area has lots to see and do. Stonetown is about 1 hour away by Dalla Dalla and an easy run for touring there as well. Mark this hotel down for a getaway with great staff, good food and not bad on the pocketbook.

Room Tip: take a small room that has an opening window on the Indian Ocean to be gently blown to sleep by the...

“Beach escape”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

This was a wonderful place to escape to. We really enjoyed chilling by the pool here and having some fantastic retreats, to the south of the island to hang out with dolphins, then north of Bwejuu up to the peninsula to watch the sun set over the sea. The staff organised a fantastic meal for us on a private beach as well as a special honeymoon celebration, with local music, dancing, beach fire and cocktails. It was an amazing treat. The owner really went the extra mile to make our stay so memorable. The hotel was a great place to be, although it could be made amazing with a few womans touches!! I wasn't as impressed with the beach as I was expecting...I preferred other beaches on the island in Matewmwe and Kizimkazi. The hotel were very happy to arrange for us to have whichever catch of the day we wanted! The food was fantastic!!

“great views, simple accomodations (3 star, plus)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

This is a lovely property - and I recommend it. The views are 5 star, but the accomodations simple (2 star). The food is quite good, and the staff helpful, which is what makes this place wonderful and why it is a wondeful value hotel. The staff went out of their way to accomodate my gluten free diet, surprising me with a local rice bread in the morning since they knew that I coudl not eat wheat. We had a lovely stay, and hope you will, too.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for one of the rooms facing the water.

“Calm, friendly and relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2012

We were looking for a really relaxing place by the beach to chill out for a few days. Palm Beach was definitely that, with a spacious and breezy room overlooking the beach (we didn't need the aircon at all). There is also a pool, which is good as the sea retreats a long way at low tide, although this gives you the opportunity to watch people collecting seaweed and making rope from coconut fibres.

The staff were universally friendly and welcoming, especially Mafoud the manager. He's happy to sit down for a chat and sometimes plays music in the evenings. He's also able to arrange bikes, spice tours, trips to Jozani forest and they offer a free tour of the local village. They also arrange entertainment in the evenings, such as a campfire on the beach or a traditional singer in the restaurant.

The food was also really great, and though the menu didn't have a huge selection, everything we ate there was good.

The hotel itself is in the middle of a village, so you don't feel cut off from the local community like at some of the resorts further up the beach. It's a 45 min walk to Paje if you fancy a bit of local nightlife, or a 10 minute walk up to some of the other guesthouses in Bwejuu who also have restaurants. With bikes you can ride up to the top of the peninsula in about 40 minutes, and it's probably not too long to cycle to Jozani forest either if you're feeling energetic.

There were only a few small things I would have changed about this place. Firstly was the bathroom, which didn't really fit with the traditional style of the bedrooms. The second was that the loungers by the pool weren't as comfortable as they could be. However these things didn't affect the enjoyment of our stay, and I would definitely come back here again.

Room Tip: We stayed in Dikoni, which looks right over the beach and gets a nice breeze as there's two wind...

“So serene.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

If you need to recharge and want a secluded private tropical paradise, this is it. Great, spacious villas, good customer service, live music at dinner, great food, nice pool, private beach cabana, great breeze..... Will definitely go again.

Peaceful environment, great stress detoxer!
