“A wonderfull place to chill out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

There is some places that makes you feel immediately at home.
Zanzi resort is one of them.
We booked one of the seven villas for 3 nights in july 2013 and cannot be more satisfied with our stay.
This resort, situated on the west coast of the island is nested in a large and gorgeous tropical garden (the gardeners have done a incredible work) that brings cool and shadow in the hotter hours of the day.
Hidden in this garden, the villa was superb. No trace of bad taste. Spacious, bright, furnished with local crafting and perfectly clean, with your own private pool that is facing the sea, it offers you the perfect privacy and all the comfort you need to take a quiet and delicious stay so as to chill out after a safari.
A few feet from your pool, the four-poster bed on which you can abandon yourself in reading or simply watching the sunset and, from here, the stairs leading to your private access to the beach come to perfect the picture of this amazing place.

Last but not least, the staff was amazing.Very careful and discrete, we found in them the best service that we experimented during our trip in Kenya and Tanzania.
We found Katherine, the general manager, extremely professionnal.

One advice: Feel free to ask one of the barmen to teach you "Bao" game (a more complex zanzibar cousin of Awale game) and may be , according to your progress, you will be able to measure yourself to some of the best player of the resort ;-)

In the middle of the garden, the restaurant, build according the local manner, is very well decorated. The dishes are good and you can have each of your meals at the restaurant or ask the staff to be served directly in your villa.

In brief, everything here is thought for your tranquility and your intimity so as you can benefit fully from this wonderfull place.
We can say for sure that it's a success.

I was staying with my wife for 3nights in zanziresort and it was the best decision I ever made for holiday. this place is relaxing pure with high level service, fantastic food and great villas. The staff is very friendly and helping in any case, we where treated like king and queen in paradise. my favourite cocktail was spice on ice and guacamolita, just great, and favourite food banana bruschetta with tomato chutney. I never forget this place and for sure come back a.s.a.p.

Room Tip: villa 7 (ask for romantic pool dinner)

Zanzi Resort was simply perfect for us, our 3 yr old and infant daughter. The management and staff have truly built an intimate, comfortable atmosphere that left no question in our minds - when we return to Zanzibar, it will be here! One story sums up the management's commitment to our pleasant stay - the manager had a mosquito net built just for the living room couch, after we inquired about it as a place for our 3 yr old to sleep. What more could we ask for? The food was delicious at every meal, the grounds kept tidy, the staff welcoming and charming, and the villas were well-designed and gorgeous. The villas have a very large master bedroom, bathroom, living room/dining area, a small private pool, complete with a current for swimming, and an outdoor day bed (with mosquito net). Situated on the western side of the island, you see every sunset in all their glory from the comfort of your house and garden. We had transportation for two day trips arranged by the manager, which included a trip to the Jozani Forest to see the red colobus monkeys (don't miss this). I highly recommend this resort to families with young children, and to anyone else for that matter. Thank you Zanzi Resort!

I went there for my honeymoon and it was very very good, the villas are amazing, with a private pool and beach access, service was good and food was excellent, staff would go out of their way to help you.
it is secluded and part of the charm you get is total privacy which results in the resort being further from town.
If you do happen to want to go anywhere you talk to the manager and they will advice you and arrange everything for you.
Very relaxing stay.

The Zanzi treated us exceptionally well from the moment that we arrived. The food was excellent, and they made a point of asking us about our personal preferences. The finishes, bedding, furnishings and accouterments in the rooms are top notch. Each room opens to a small private pool, garden, outdoor seating and a private path to the beach. The Zanzi is exceptionally private. If you are looking for a a restful vacation with unparalleled privacy, this is the place!

This is my 5th visit to Zanzibar and we have found paradise! Zanzi Resort is a 7 room property set in the most stunning gardens overlooking a dramatic coastline/beach. Each room is a very private villa with a spacious bedroom, large lounge area and extremely well-appointed bathroom. Each villa has it's own private pool and garden area overlooking the beach/sea. The staff are extremely friendly and well-trained and the food is the best I have eaten on the island.

We celebrated my partner's birthday here and were treated to a torchlit dinner on a private beach with only the sound of the waves to accompany our meal. Truly magical! The food was unbelievably good - onion and wild garlic soup, aubergine, tomato and mozzarella tower, jumbo prawns and a birthday cake baked specially and totally unprompted by the chef.

Zanzi Resort is a real find......excellent in all respects and at a very reasonable price compared to other hotels on the island. If you want romance this is the place to be! We'll be back!

Room Tip: We stayed in Villa 4 which is probably the most private at the resort

i have just returned from a one night stay at Zanzi Resort and it was not long enough! it is a small boutique resort situated a short distance from stone town but it felt like a million miles away. The villas are beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean and spacious. Each villa has its own pool and is set in a verdant garden. The villas are also extremely private and ooze romance. Every meal i have eaten at Zanzi Resort has been delicious, imaginative and well presented. We enjoyed dinner on the beach - a stunning experience. The staff are attentive without being overly so and friendly without being over familiar. This is a hidden gem! well done to Marek and his team.
