“Perfect honeymoon bliss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014

We stayed here for the first week of our honeymoon and it was such a relaxing and tranquil place. The rooms are outstanding with the best views and comfort possible. Its very back to nature but after one night you get to appreciate this and fall in love with the ambience of it all the room was always kept spotless and normally done when you were eating so it was no inconvenience. The pavillions are seperated bedroom bathroom and living area with a rooftop sunbathing or dining area. we had 2 candle lit dinners up there under the stars and it was so romantic.
Our butler Victoria could not do enough for us she made plenty of suggestions to help make the most of our time. She was a ray of sunshine every morning and helped to try and learn some basic swahili she literally waited on us hand and foot but never made you feel as if you were asking too much. The food was freshly made to order and the ingredients were always locally obtained. we had Crab which was a massive bowl and was absolutley amazing also fresh lobster and gaint prawns. every meal was outstanding quality taste and presentation by far the best hotel we have ever had the honour to stay at and we hope to return soon. This hotel is a gem for any couple that want to relax and get away from it all.

We didn't know what to expect when we visited Zanzibar and Kilindi. I blame myself for not doing the research so when I say this hotel is perfect for honeymooners it is - however we have been married 25 years. Kilindi is very beautiful - arrival is at the top of the property where you are met with a welcome drink and your luggage is whisked away to your pavilion whilst you take the path down 100 metres to your luxury accommodation. We spent 3 nights at Kilindi and barely saw another guest - it is so private to the point of having little atmosphere however it really is very relaxing and beautiful. Our pavilion had not one but 2 plunge pools, the 1st connected to the bedroom and the 2nd 20 metres lower in the private garden. The bathroom is not connected to the sleeping area but is 20 metres down a pathway all within the private pavilion. This is fine during the day but come the middle of the night it could be quite dangerous navigating the steps and path with very limited lighting not to mention who wants to walk 20 metres at 3am. The meal service is exquisite, each meal can be set up anywhere on the property with the staff finding a different, beautiful, romantic setting for each dining experience. For one that likes people watching and atmosphere this is not the place to visit. Most guests are not seen due to the privacy of each pavilion. There is a lovely infinity pool and we were often the only guests using it.
The beach in front of Kilindi is very tidal and not the most beautiful part of the shore in the North. In fact it is located where the fisherman moor their boats and in parts is extremely dirty. Walk 100 metres further down the beach and it is pristine, very beautiful.
The staff are wonderful and nothing was too much trouble for our butler.
Overall Kilindi is very a stunning property but not for everyone. If you want privacy I would say yes, yes, yes but for those who like atmosphere and people I suggest look elsewhere.

First impression is not 100% positive for someone who is scared to be so close to the nature. But after 1night, you will love the open-to-nature concept! Incredible kindness from everyone, especially from our butler Halfan. Perfect service! Good food. Amazing quiet beach. A perfect honeymoon!!

This hotel should be rated much higher than it currently is - I trust this will change over time as the new managers continue to infuse it with their excellent taste and commitment to customer service. We have stayed at and/or seen several places in Zanzibar and this was by far the best beach hotel we have stayed at on the island and one of the best worldwide. Let the others have their big buffets and oil-slathered masses, and leave this little gem to those seeking unpretentious luxury, beautiful grounds, and villas with stunning design and total privacy. Every note was hit - attentive staff, expert spa, delicious food.....This was our first stay but plan to come back as often as possible. Kudos to the whole Kilindi team!

Kilindi Hotel was our last stop in Tanzania after some truly spectacular days full of wild life and game driving. I can't imagine a better place to be and to relax after safari. In the breeze at the beautiful beach of the hotel you find peace and time to realize and re-think all the experiences of Africa's wildlife. The accomodation is really special, the open pavilions give you the opportunity to wake up with the scent of the sea. The hardest thing at Kilindi is the desicion which spot to choose for a relaxing day.. the private atmosphere of your own pools in the patio, the infinity pool with the spectacular view on the turquoise sea or the calmness of the white-sanded beach. Dinner at the pool, in the privacy of the patio or even at the beach?
Well whatever you choose, you will be thrilled, I'm sure!

We cannot praise the kilindi highly enough. After a busy safari we were looking forward to a relaxing beach stay and we certainly struck gold. The pictures of the apartments do not do them justice, very roomy and two plunge pools, just for us. We managed to tear ourselves away from the room a couple of times to visit the beach, again a treat for luxury beds, and free canoeing. The food in the restaurant was divine, most nights, Adrian the chef would cook us fresh seafood rather than the menu, we had some lovely surprises, and he was so friendly, always checking we were enjoying the food. Our butler tadheo was so helpful, and by the end of the week, he knew exactly what little habits we liked, for example, banana smoothie with breakfast, or that i wanted still water with dinner while my husband drank sparkling. We went on a day trip to stone town one day and tadheo prepared us a picnic feast!
We would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting complete luxury, romantic break.

What a fantastic experience. They aim to spoil and they certainly do. Great service, good food, beautiful gardens warm sea and super pool. That's not to mention the plunge pool in your room the sunbathing patio and a fridge kept topped up with whatever you want to drink. All serviced by a personal butler, with a sparkling personality, whose aim was to ensure your absolute enjoyment.

Just want to go back..
