“Wonderful stay at Nedile”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

On arrival we were welcomed by all the staff and shown around the facilities. All the rooms have a wonderful view and there were welcome special touches after dinner with the fire in the room lit, hot water bottles in the beds and chocolates on the pillow! The food was excellent and Nedile can cater for special requests. The home made bread was a winner!! We saw some amazing animals and beautiful birds. On our last game drive we finally tracked down the lions and had an amazing sighting of the cheetach family. Thank you to all the staff at Nedile.

Have just returned from a brief one night stay at the Nedile lodge. Everything about this place is briliant. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming, the location and views are stunning, the game drives and how they are carried out are well organised and safe, the food is lovely with options for guests with allergies or special requests no trouble. The little touches really make a difference (won't write spoilers!) to the exclusive feel of the lodge. Nedile is an unfenced property within the reserve which adds to the beauty of it. I was so sad to leave and cannot wait to return, 5 star! Thanks.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Nedile for three nights over valentines day this year. It was a truly great experience. The lodge itself is stunning with its bush feel and amazing views. There are special touches from getting woken up with a smile and a tray with tea/coffee before morning drive to the warm facecloths when you arrive back. The staff were all amazing you can see that they love what they do which makes a huge difference. For us the highlights were the game drives, our guide was very knowledgeable and we got to see so many amazing things. In between drives one is forced to relax which in today's busy lifestyle is great. The food was of very high standard and we enjoyed every minute of our stay.

We only left on Thursday but as we loved it so much we thought we would write a revew now. This was a perfect holiday, which included delicious food every day, beautiful surroundings, personal service and a great guide. This was the start to our honeymoon and our guide Barend made it really special for us and we even had two drives just to ourselves whilst it was quiet. Barend was very knowledgeable about the animals, birds and plants and he even got the telescope out so we could do some star gazing. We managed to see 4 of the big 5 close up and were pleased to see how all the guides respected the rule of no more than 4 jeeps at any animal viewing.

We felt really safe at our lodge and didn't worry about locking things away. It was nice to have a small group of staff as we felt like we got to know everyone and felt sad to say goodbye to everyone, especially Barend.

If you are packing for this holiday don't worry about having lots of khaki clothes, barely anyone had these. Do however bring lots of layers as it gets very cold on the game drives, though the hot water bottles and ponchos provided really helped!

I can't recommend Nedile Lodge enough, we completely fell in love with it and just hope that one day we will be able to go back.

Thank you to the fantastic staff, we miss you already!

Sarah and Ian xxx

I booked this trip for my boyfriends birthday and he absolutely loved it! As did I. The lodge is situated on a hilltop with beautiful views. The staff are friendly and warm and make you feel very welcome. I didn't see any of the other rooms but were staying in room 1 and it was such a treat. There was an outdoor shower as well as a bath with a view :) the food is delicious, the rooms comfortable, the ranger Barend went out of his way to make sure we saw as much game as possible.. And we were incredibly lucky! Met some amazing people and can say with absolute certainty that we will be going back. It is also very good value for money! Highly recommend this lodge!

Wow!! What a wonderful lodge with wonderful staff and wonderful food! We had an amazing couple of days and were treated like gold by everybody. We have been to a few safari lodges and this ranks among the best for us, and is certainly value for money.

The lodge is small and intimate, but in a good way. It is in a good location and has awesome views. The rooms were absolutely wonderful and the outside shower was just a treat! The view from our room was magnificent and so tranquil. It was very tastefully decorated and we felt like we were sleeping in luxury in the middle of the bush. The main common area was very comfortable inside and outside, even on cold winter nights. I loved how the staff minded us, but were considerate enough to also give us space. There was never a time when we were thirsty or hungry.

The game drives were lots of fun and we saw 3 of the big 5, but lots of other animals too. Barend (our ranger) was sure to educate us with facts about birds, trees and survival techniques in the bush. The animals look healthy and the Welgevonden reserve is very well looked after. If I could have had it my way, we would have spent the WHOLE day in the thick of the bush tracking animals.

Room Tip: Room #1 is right near the common area. In our opinion, it was not the best for privacy, so be sure t...

The best place to switch off and concentrate on nothing else other than animals and all vast expanse of nature all around you. The rest is done for you.
Early morning game drives are worth braving the cold for with hot water bottles and poncho's provided, to look for and find game. We saw cheetahs and managed to catch a glimpse of a kill. Late afternoons proved fruitful too, with more cheetah sightings, elephants and leopard to end off perfectly.
The staff are great and friendly and very efficient. You lack for nothing. I have food intolerances and allergies and I was accommodated all the way with seemingly no effort (which I know is not the case). I was very impressed and the food was lovely.
The rooms are clean, perfect for what you need with a view of note.
The friendly, knowledgeable ranger, Barend made our game drives very pleasant and comfortable. His passion for nature certainly shines through.
Definitely worth a two or three night stay.
