“Beautiful & Charming hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2011

We are writing this review as we still are about to unpack our suitcases after an unforgettable vacation on the island Boavista.
Our heads as well as our hearts are full of beautiful memories of this Cape Verdian island and it's warm and generous people.
The island offers something for everyone, whether your a sun bather, surfer or interested in culture.
We give Parque das Dunas and it's staff our best recommendations.
The manager was always truly helpful and understanding.
He drove us to Rabil Airport on Christmas morning to help us with the ATM-machine and on another occasion managed to get hold of the last rental car on the island.
The staff greeted us with a smile everywhere and were very humble and discrete.
If you had complaints one had only to visit Baraccus, a non-legal area outside of Sal-Rei to be reminded of what you have and to appreciate and be greatful for that.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 16:1 which was very cozy surrounded by tropical garden and with a sea view.

Conveniently near airport, quiet, empty, basic, no entertainment, food exceedingly dull and repetitive, however stunning beaches and utterly peaceful. Rooms basic but right on beach and adequate. Capairoski cocktails kept me sane until they ran out of limes! Santa monica beach trip an absolute "must".

Royal Decameron overbooked and dropped in Das Dunas. Still not worth 3. Breakfast very sober yet no egg and to eat all you can to 10 h 45 am cleaned up though. Rooms dirty and very sober. Staff not friendly and arrogant.Be quiet very little people but what do you want. The domain is not yet finished and it seems that the employees of the hotel here also.Lock on door was box wood with bracket, luster with string tied to ceiling, shower very small onhygienisch. If you wish a toast in the afternoon there was either no cheese or ham or mayonnaise ketchup just away nothing and then still unfriendly control. Dinner a choice of 2 menus fish or fish and that was it. Definitely not recommended.

We have just gor back from Parque Das Dunal.. Well.. we spent our last three days up the beach at At a fine hotel, but more later.
Please don't go. the food choices seemed ok on day one but the same four choices remaned for all days both lunch and dinner. Drinks were all extra. Even tea and coffee, and although we had Very few other drinks our bill for ten days was E200. Even water was E3 a bottle and there was no way to refill them.

Breakfast was supposed to be from 7.45 til 10.00, but if you got to the restaurant later tha 8.45 you had a choice of stale cake or cold Pizza.

The stale cake that was not eaten was later stirred into the "MIXED ICE CREAM" and served as desert with lunch and dinner. This was the only desert choice most of the time.

Mr Angostini, the manager was minundated with complaints. He promised to sack the chef, who was hardly to blame, but the food and service got worse while we were there and his arrogance was dreadful.
The rooms were nicely situated but were filthy. The shower curtain was brown with mildew and the wall and pipework were discusting. I even had Wee stains on my mattress! Complaints fell on death ears. Worse than that.. when I asked for better availability of tea and cofee I was told "TOUGH"

My wife was is in need of accesible walkways etc. Our travel agent said this place would be good as there were no stairs and the bungalows were on the beach.. bur the paths were rocky and badly maintained so her scooter was un able to be used. there were no ramps or any other concessions for disabled / elderly guests.

Also..and I can't blame them for this.. at the time we went we were unable to get into the sea due to high waves. There were three recent drownings on this beach alone.

No nightlife.

A bad choice, our hotel room was broken into, staff refused to call the police but did give us back the money stolen.Room broken into via patio door, and was temporarily mended after the break in by a nail! we all slept soundly after that as you can imagine and our 11 year old daughter was especially worried.
Building work noise, unfriendly staff, poor breakfast.
Stunning beach though.
Rooms vary as they seem to be owned by different people, our room was lovely and had a fab sun deck and we used it at night for star gazing.
An unspoilt island. and we are glad we visited before the landscape changes.

We spent 2 nights here near to the end of our 2 week holiday as it was near to the airport and I guess very handy if there were any problems with the flights (which there were incidentally). We were greeted warmly at the reception when we checked in and then there was the small matter of the long walk with our bags to our bungalow like accommodation. We probably stayed in one of the furthest rooms away from the main reception/pool/restaurant part of the hotel. But this wasn’t so bad really; the walk was in reality only a few minutes.

This was also the first hotel that we’d seen a swimming pool in and it was a decent pool that was clean and not too cold. During the day the hotel seemed quite deserted but this was early January so this might not be too unexpected. Many people might also be out on day trips as well as it seemed much busier in the evenings.

The room itself was situated on the edge of the beach and gave us instant access to the beach and sea past our little veranda/balcony area. This also has a couple of sun beds in it if you wanted to ‘stay at home’ and sunbathe. My only issue with the room here would be the security and whilst we never encountered any problems in the whole two weeks we were in Cape Verde, the room did seem a little vulnerable should anyone wish to break in. There was no real lock to speak of on the sliding patio doors, just a metal bolt to poke through two holes in the doors to prevent them being opened. However, that aside, the room was clean and comfortable and there was nothing to complain about.

The hotel itself in sandwiched between 2 all inclusive hotels, one to the right that you can’t help but notice, the hideous Club Karemboa and the one to the left, the not so brilliant Ventaclub. We stayed at all 3 and I would have to say that this hotel, whilst not being all inclusive, was better than both of its neighbours. Both are about a 10 or 15 minute walk in either direction up the beach.

The food and service at the hotel was also pretty good. All the staff were friendly and helpful and there was a decent selection of wines to have with your meals. There is also a pool table and large flat screen TV in a communal room which you can also use. One good thing about this hotel is the free internet that is available for all the guests. This is something that is not readily available at lots of other hotels.

Overall, I would say this is decent place to stay and it would probably suit many people’s budgets more that the neighbouring hotels.

This resort is a mixed bag. Great beach, pleasant apartments and good weather for the 7 days we were there. However be prepared for third world service at first world prices. Be prepared if you are English to be ignored and served last if the Italians or Portugese are in town. The price of food and drink here rivals southern Europe but apart from Carlos the rest of the staff are moody, unhelpful and plainly unaware that it is the travellers cash that is paying their wages. I would still travel but do not think that you can travel here at the same prices as the rest of Africa or the East. Also bring plenty of books as after a few days there aint much to do or see.
