“Always Good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

Drove over to Sabads a couple of weeks ago. We hadn't been there in a while although it is only a 35 minute drive. We were greeted warmly by the hostess/owner as we always are and seated in a booth which we prefer. We ordered a pre dinner cocktail and then ordered some calamari as an appetizer to split. We tend to order calamari in every restaurant we are dining just to compare the quality. This calamari was very good - but not great. It was tough which is a sign of overcooking.
We were served the usual relish tray (with a few changes from the last time we were there), garlic knots (not as good as the garlic bread) and cabbage noodles. Salads were fresh, crisp and generous. For my entree I ordered a rare prime rib and my husband ordered clams and linguine. The portions at Sabads are very large and almost impossible for folks on the elderly side (us) to comsume. My prime rib was tender, well seasoned and served as requested, rare. My husband's clams and linquine in a white sauce was generous in quantity with both pasta a clams. There were three fresh clams served along with the garlicy canned clams. He proclaimed them delicious.
We have frequented Sabads often, but seemed to try other places closer to home. We forgot how really good the food is there.
Dinner for two including drinks, tax and tip was $65.00.

“Disappointment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2012

This restaurant has been around since 1955 with a great reputation. We were visiting relatives and thought this would be a special dinner for Mother's Day celebration. We had reservations and still had to wait 20 minutes. The place was packed which was a good sign...so I thought. They were well known for their garlic bread, relish tray and cabbage noodles. No more garlic bread (they now offer garlic knots), relish tray is no longer offered free and the cabbage noodles were awful! Too salty! The appetizers were good BUT the sweet and sour sauce for the coconut shrimp comes in a package like you get at Wendy's! Same with the sour cream that comes with the baked potato! I was shocked that a restaurant of this caliber threw in those kinds of fast food items. The entrees were average...the marsala came with CANNED mushrooms in the sauce and the sauce tasted like it came out of a can as well. The only positive thing about the place was the service by our waitress. She was excellent! I felt bad for her having to serve that caliber of food and giving us the bil.
