“Swank and VERY expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

The food here was quite good, but it wasn't as good as you'd expect for the super-high prices. The experience is fancy, the kind of place with multiple servers tending to your needs, and the kind of place where the entrees don't come with sides -- you have to order (and pay for) them separately. We both got prime rib, which was good, but our short rib appetizer was disappointing, tough and chewy in a way that short ribs really shouldn't be if they're cooked well. Considering the lack of decent places to eat in this area, you could do worse, but it was clearly overpriced for the quality of the food.

Warning: Since this is a Seneca facility, it's sovereign territory, meaning that the state smoking laws don't apply -- there's a smoking section, and plenty of smoking goes on in the rest of the casino as well. You'll probably smell like smoke by the time you get back to your car. :(

“Best Steak in WNY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

This place is an excellent example of the classic American Steakhouse. I have never had a cut of meat here that wasn't excellent, the sides are very good as are the appetizers and, while it sounds hokey the breads are killer. The only local competition is the Chop House, of which I give the edge to Western Door. I often sit at the bar and eat and the service and quality is unchanged. Frank (and his staff) define great old school bar tenders, this guy remembers your drink after 4-5 months, he even remembers my Dad's drink, whom he served for years at another establishment. A warning that it is a pricey meal, but don't let that discourage you from trying it's great.

“Birthday Celebration”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013 via mobile

Enjoyed almost perfect 8 oz filets and sea bass. Coconut shrimp appetizer. Wedge salad. All very good. Service good but had to check with the kitchen regarding farm raised or wild caught fish dishes. Would have rated the experience a perfect 5, but no offer of a special desert for our father's 70th birthday.

“Average at Best”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

Been to many casino steak houses and have to rank this one as average at best. The maitre d was very gracious and friendly as we were seated immediately. The ambiance was very typical of a steak place, nothing extraordinary. We both ordered a salad and a side to share as my wife ordered the strip steak and I ordered the filet mignon to go along with our wines. We were never rushed with our meals as we enjoyed our wines. Price was what you would expect from any casino restaurant. The one tip I would suggest is that the salads are large enough to be shareable. Wish our waitress would have suggested that. They do have tables that oversee the casino flood, but I believe most of them were for larger groups. For convenience and if you are in the mood for a good steak, then you may want to give this restaurant a try.

“PRICE FOR THE BUCK...OK”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

I've eaten at the Western Door Seneca Steakhouse a few times...all with friends that comped us with their play. Ambiance was very nice and service super. Food was good but not a great bang for the buck from my perspective. I would not go there and pay for that meal at their prices unless I either had a lot of comps to use....but hey...our friends comped us so it was terrific in that regard.
