“An awesome experience--a must especially if you dont make it to the canada”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2007

This has got to the one of the best ways to experience the falls. It is quite an experience...nothing else like it. You can actually board this same boat from both the NY and Canadian sides. If you dont plan on going over to Canada to view the falls, then you most definately want to board this boat from NY and see the falls from this viewpoint. The view of the falls from land on the NY side is limited, so take advantage of this unique way of seeing the Falls. The thunderous sound of the falls and the sensation of the mist are incredible. It is almost surreal.

“An excelent adventure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2007

I have been to Niagara Falls three times and each time I have gone on The Maid Of The Mist. It is awesome! You get really close to the falls and the view is beautiful. I would advise to board on the American side as each time I tried to board on the Canadian side they had 2 hour long waits so I crossed to the American side and got right on. Also, you get a much better view of the falls on the American side doing it this way. You WILL get wet. There is just no way to avoid this so be prepared. I would ride the Maid of The Mist again. Loved it!

“Riding "The Maid of the Mist"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2007

If you get the chance to ride the boat Maid Of The Mist at Niagara Falls you will find out that it is the BEST way to view the falls. Niagara Falls is spectacular from any point, but one must see it from the Maid Of The Mist. This boat will take you right down to the bottom of the falls. No you don't get that close but you do get so close that the roar of the water is so loud that you can hardly hear someone next to you talking. The captian of the boat will give you the history about the falls that is unbelievable.

“No Wait at the New York Side (August 3, 2007)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2007

We just returned from a two-day visit to Niagara Falls. Based on what I read here, on TripAdvisor, my family and I decided to take the Maid voyage from the NY side. We noticed that the lines on the Canadian side were long and since it was REALLY hot, we figured that the ride over the Rainbow Bridge in an air conditioned car was better than the long wait in the heat. Once we got to the entrance, we received our ponchos and got right on the waiting boat. The kids (16, 14, 12, 8, 4) loved the boat ride but loved the walk up the staircase by the Falls even better. Everyone was drenched. Other helpful tips I found from other travelers: waterproof cameras are a must, we saved our Cave of the Winds sandals for this boat ride, and we tied our ponchos between our legs which only helped those of us who did not brave the staircase.

“Great experience!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2007

We just returned from Niagara Falls and based on trip advisor reviews this was on our to do list. We went in the afternoon and although there was a long line, it moved quickely and we were on the boat. Wow what an experience! The roar of the falls is amazing. This is the best way to see the falls.
