“Best way to see the falls”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

There is no better way to see the falls! After sailing past the American Falls, you spend about 15 minutes in the basin of the Horseshoe Falls. When you see where the ships take you from above, you realize that you are not that close to the actual falls, but from the ship, you feel the water and mist all around you. It is hard to believe the amount of water that flows through here or the shear power that is generated, but you will get the best perspective from taking a ride on the Maid of the Mist

“More than a mist but worth it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

Loved the boat trip into the mist of the falls, if only you could hire the whole boat to yourself to avoid the pushy tourists. Had to forcibly move a lady who was trying to push in in front of my son who is in a wheelchair. Some tourists have no manners!

“When in Niagara, you have to do this once and here is why...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013 via mobile

There are many and beautiful views of the Falls that can be seen from either side of the river. So why shell out $12-20 for Maid of the Mist?

A) The American Falls are much more beautiful from the on water vantage point below than from above. They have many lovely little cascading falls at their base and the boat gets you up close and personal.
B) The historical narration is a recorded voice speaking the same message in English and then French...pretty basic and nothing you probably didn't know had you read anything about the falls before you boarded. However, just before you get to the base of the horseshoe falls, a simple "Ladies and Gentlemen, This is Niagara Falls" introduces you to a thunderstorm like mist accompanied by gale force winds and a thundering roar. It is impressive and no other vantage point (above, behind, or other) can match it. The narration goes appropriately silent for about 2 minutes as you "soak in" the the mist.

Yes, you get wet, but how wet is more a choice of where you stand. I recommend starting on the lower deck left side toward the front for the best vantage point of the American Falls. Then consider moving to the right side as you approach the Horseshoe Falls.

“A true "DON'T MISS"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

This is the absolute closest you can get to Niagara Falls and the experience is thrilling. There is nothing like this boat trip to give you some small sense of the power of the Falls. You will get WET so be prepared and make sure you cameras are protected.

“So much fun!”

This was the highlight of our trip. It's fast and furious at falls, but was able to get pics and videos I will enjoy for years!
