As this title states, this hotel has lots of potential. It has modern decor and appears orderly. The bedding is comfortable and there is ample free parking. Things to consider:
1. Location. I did not score down for location as location is something that (for the most part) is disclosed up front. Other reviewers reported that they did not feel safe in the neighborhood; I would disagree. Our family felt safe, however; this location is apart not only from the main attraction (the falls), but is also apart from other substantial commercial businesses so you will need to plan to drive to go to attractions or other restaurants or shopping. This was not a big issue for us and we were able to find restaurants and shopping within an easy 10 minute drive. We did not use the hotel restaurant as we felt it was rather expensive - even considering the 10% (which I did not feel was a sufficient discount to lure us into this restaurant).
2. Fire detector "strobe" light. When we turned off the lights to go to bed, we found that this hotel has a fire detector on the ceiling between the 2 queen beds. I expect this is probably in line with code and necessary for safety. What isn't necessary is the green flashing light on the fire detector. I am not exaggerating - you turn off the lights and then you find this green strobe light that flashes at you every 4 seconds or so. I have been in many hotels and I know they had fire detectors, but they did not flash light at me directly above my sleeping area. This was just extremely poor design - I strongly suspect that this type of fire detector was NOT intended for sleeping areas. I complained and eventually was provided duct tape to cover the flashing light. (Yes, I had to stand on the rolling desk chair in the dark to do this- other family members trying to sleep).
3. Filthy windows with dead bugs and live spiders (on the outside). Room 807 - I understand this room did not have a "river view" and is on the 8th floor, but the windows should be clean. At night, the live action started with the live spiders descending to eat the dead bugs. My wife was unhappy. Even though this was on the outside of the window, it would definitely freak you out if you have a fear of spiders. We were able to roll the shade down for the night.
4. Stains on the bedding of both beds. I spotted some small staining (looked like blood) on the bedding of the bed I was sharing with my wife. My wife responded that there was also a stain on the bed my son was on. We did not complain as the bedding appeared laundered, just stained. Regardless, I don't think this would fly for all customers.
Some may wonder why didn't we change rooms / complain, etc. I certainly did complain about the strobe light and tried to take the least disruptive action. Unfortunately, the strobe light issue and the spider issue both arose at night after we had already had a long drive and "settled" into the room.
As I stated in my title, this hotel has much potential; It didn't live up to it on our visit. I did use the pool which I would say was ok. The pool is in a large area which some families may like, but swimmers who like "privacy" would not.

First I would like to say thank you very much for your review and suggestions. We appreciate hearing how all of our guests enjoyed their stay. We do apologize for any inconveniences or restlessness you may have encountered. I do understand the concerns that you have voiced. As you do know we do have our restaurant on site and do offer discounts for being part of our Starwood Prefrred Guest Program. However, we also understand that some of our guests may prefer a quick, easy and more affordable meal. To help remedy this issue, we keep many menus behind our front desk for take out and food that can be delivered right to our guest rooms at the hotel. This way our guests can always enjoy a great local meal in the comfort of their own guest room. We also provide free tickets for the trolley that stops at many main shopping and dining areas in the city to any guests that inquire. In regards to the fire detector light, yes, it is required this ensures our guests maximum safety. We are more than happy to remedy the light situation if it hinders the sleep of the guest as soon as they bring it to our attention. Thank you for also letting us know about the spiders outside of the window. We are a waterfront property which unfortunately does attract insects. We always try to keep an eye out for any damaged supplies in our rooms however sometimes things slip by as we are all human. We appreciate our guests bringing those things to our attention, which will only ensure our next guest does not have the same issue. Again thank you so much for your review. We surely appreciate your business and hope to see you again.
