“We eat here often”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2009

It really isn't too appealing from the outside, but the food is good! The owner is very nice and since opening is slowly but surely making little changes to improve the atmopshere. They added tv's not too long ago. We are always seated quickly and great chips and salsa are brought to the table right away. They will adjust menu items to your liking if they can and food is served quickly. The service is consistently good as is the food. Even though this is not something they regularly do, they sang Happy birthday in Spanish to me on by birthday! Definitiely recommend!

“Yummy!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2009

Their salsa was excellent! They accommodated my order, which is nice. I got the fajitas. I didn't think they brought enough tortillas for all the food on the skillet. I probably should have ordered something else, because I was not that hungry. We tried the sopaillas. The bread itself wasn't as good as I was used to. It didn't puff. Their combination of honey and cinnamon had me licking the plate. Literally.

Closes early (7pm) on Sunday.

“Great food, great price.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2009

After reading all the great reviews of this mexican restauramt we decided to give it a try. It really does not look like much from the outside and we were questioning our descion to go into the restaurant. We were seated right away and out came a hot plate of tortilla chips with salsa. They were so good. We then ordered two alcholic drinks and the special dinner for two which was only 12.95 and included two tacos, a burrito, an enchilida, rice, and beans, and a couple other things which I cannot remember the names of. They were brought out pretty quickly and the taste was sooooooooooo good. Wee were so stuffed but we had to try the fried ice cream and churros with ice cream. Again, it tasted so good.

The only negative I would say is they had an english newscast playing on the radio while we were eating, I would have prefered some mexican music to get you more into the mood.

Overall, an excellent place and I will definitely be going back the next time we are in NIagara Falls, New York.

“We LOVE La Galera!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2009

We have been going to this great little Mexican restaurant for about 2 years. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but this humble former motel coffee shop serves some of the best Mexican food we've tasted outside of California or Mexico! Service is always friendly and efficient. Delicious complimentary chips and salsa are set on the table within moments of sitting down. And that ice cold beer (Corona, Dos Equis, Tecate) takes only a moment or two longer. The menu has many choices, and lots of combination dinners - great if you want to try a selection of items. A favourite of ours is the Enchiladas Rancheras "two cheese enchiladas topped with beef tips or chicken (chicken is really great), served with guacamole salad and beans", and those refried beans come on a separate plate topped with melted cheese. Delicious, and only $6.95! Another favourite is a couple of chicken tostadas from the A La Carte menu, a great light dinner at only $3.00 a piece. Most combination dinners range in price from $6.95 to $7.65, and you choose from many different combos which could include chili rellenos, burritos, tacos, enchiladas, chalupas, or even fantastic tamales. For us, La Galera is a place for a great quick dinner, or a great night out with friends. We recently attended a dinner with 20 people in our party, and we were so impressed with the service. Every single person in our party got their order right, and was served in a timely fashion. We can't recommend La Galera highly enough, for us, it's worth the drive from Canada!

“Best Mexican food, truly authentic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2009

For those who have traveled to the southwest, you'll enjoy the authentic Mexican food and for those who only know 'chain restaurant' Mexican food, this change will be a pleasant treat!
