The room wasnt terrible, but the fact there was no heat was very uncomfortable, plus the sliding doors didnt close well, so there was a draft, which i tried to cover up placing a table against the wall to stop the draft a bit. Considering this, the blankets were not warm enough. I always carry my blanket so i was OK but my companion froze all night. Had it not been for that, i could say the hotel was average, but being its in a cold region, the no heat factor was very inconvenient.

When we stayed here years ago the national guard base must not have been active. Now you can hear planes taking off! Also the breakfast was only fair and the room was dated. The restaurant on the property had the worst spaghetti (recommended by the waitress) we ever had.

We just returned from the wedding of my husband's son in Walden, N.Y. We reserved two double rooms at the Newburgh, N.Y. Howard Johnsons months ago. When we arrived only one room was available.......no problem......we (my husband, step son, step daughter and myself) went out to lunch. When we returned, we were given the card keys to our rooms........which only one of each set would work. The kids room was fine....2 double beds, microwave and refridg. We had requested a king bed for my husband and myself, but our room had 2 doubles......despite my calling to reconfirm our reservations and room preferences the day before our arrival. My husband returned to the office to check on another room.....we were changed to a king room.....that had no microwave or refridgerator.......we were then changed to a king room, with microwave and refridg.........which did not work..... and the toilet overflowed!!!! So.....again we get moved to another room........this time only the room phone and TV remote control did not work and half the lights in the room had no light bulbs in them!! Thanks to the maintenance man, who I'm sorry I did not get his name. He was very helpful in getting things fixed. So we spent most of our first day getting a tour of 4-5 rooms in the motel dragging our luggage behind us. After we settled into our final room, we wanted to take a swim in the pool........guess what? No water in the pool.......it had a leak. So, we settled down to a lovely evening looking at the local scenery from our patio.......watching the skunks and woodchucks scampering about the grounds and parking lots.

We stayed in this motel from Friday, May 5th to Sunday, May 7th of 2006. We were quite pleased -- AGAIN. Service was prompt and courteous. Accomodations were clean each and every day. The only promblem we had was the security latch was broken on our door, and it was fixed within hours of our initial conversation. The continental breakfast is acceptable. Certainly nothing fancy, but the coffee was good and the standard fare was enough to choose from and keep you tied over until lunch. We would stay again all things being equal considering the price and what is available across the street.

Well,

I have to say that we have stayed in places all over the world. For a cheap place to stay THIS IS IT!

The room was lovely and clean and pretty big. We had a king bed. Just basic room nothing fancy. THe bathroom looked new and very clean. Amenities were available for no charge. If you needed anything extra there was a very friendly member of staff at reception to assist.

The breakfast was really nice. Simple continental breakfast, fruit, cereal, pankcakes, bagels, toast, coffee, tea, orange juice. It was all there. Very nice too.

I give this an excellent rating because it was the cheapest place and the BEST for VALUE! I WILL be going here again.

(we booked on orbitz got the room for $82 including tax for one night)

We stayed in Newburgh in October 2005 on our way to the White Mountains in NH. Newburgh just happened to be a town en route and I definitely don't recommend you stop in this town, it is very run down and we felt unsafe downtown. However, the Howard Johnson Inn is on the outskirts in a safe area and is very pleasant inside. The free wireless internet is great (and is not mentioned anywhere on the HoJo site). Room was large and the bed comfortable. It's not the quietest hotel in the world since it's located near a major intersection but the noise was not enough to disturb our sleep. The staff were not what I'd call friendly but they were OK. If you have to stay in Newburgh then this is a good place.

We stayed for 1 night to shop at Woodbury Commons Outlets before driving in to NYC. It was one of the cheapest motels in the area. The room was very clean however the hallway had a terrible odour and was full of flies. The next day at the free continental breakfast the flies were there as well as wasps in the apple juice. My 12 year old son quickly lost his appetite. I will never stay there again
