Cumming is a great place to take the family to learn to XC ski or snowshoe, or the intermediate skier to go and get some exercise. Cumming is an extension of the Rochester Museum and Science Center. They rent cross country skis and snowshoes, and I saw a sign there for lessons. If you have your own skis admission is only $3. Near the center there are a lot of fun, relatively easy, trails for those who are learning. The further you circle away from the center's lodge the harder they get, culminating with the 2.5 mile wilderness trail at the outskirts of the property.
They do a good job of keeping the trails interesting along the way. The trails twist and turn. There are signs that point out local flora and fauna, neat observation decks, bridges, and huts along the routes.
The main center or lodge is a good place to eat your snack and look at a few nature exhibits.
