“It was an experience....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

Food was very good. My husband had butter chicken and I had the paneer Marsala. The portions were a very nice size, took food home. We got another entree as an appetizer, gobi manjurian, very good. Cauliflower was very crispy, would like more cauliflower, example, the pieces were small, larger pieces would give more veggie than coating. The waiter was a clod. Spilled some of my dinner, said he was sorry and that's it. I was wearing some of it and the table and my utensils were covered in sauce. I had thought he would clean this up so we didn't have to sit amongst this, but I was mistaken. Rather than give our normal 25% tip, he received less than 10%. We won't be running back there. The is 2 other locations, we may try them instead.

“Relaxing welcoming atmosphere with carefully prepared dishes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

We had a Groupon which was enticing and suggested a good meal was in store for us.

We started with two appetizers the bhel Poori a prized street dish of Delhi and the Kurkuri Bhindi, an okra dish.

The Bhel Poori was a nice tasty mixture with the chick peas standing out. Our rendition for Chinese Mirch restaurant was more varied and interesting but this dish was a tasty start. The Kurkuri Bhindi was miles ahead have strip of okra quick fried with a light touch of salt. Most of the okra was crisp and had a little chew but a few were unchewable and stringy. These few were in the minority and overall for a June dish it was fine.

The main courses were a Shrimp Malakai Kabab which consisted of six very large shrimp that had been marinated in yoghurt and then grilled. Each had a little char, the sourness of the yoghurt and the sweetness of fresh shrimp. The second entree was a Lamb Chops Kebab which was three marinated loin lamb chops cooked tandoori style, The lamb was on the depth of flavor of mutton which did not detract from a tender flavorful dish.

The entrees came with a fragrant rice as well as a richly spiced dal (lentils). The dal was the hit of the show.

The interior of the restaurant is earth tones with wood carvings on the wall. The service was encouraging and friendly throughout.

A place to visit more than once. Note: the restaurant is located in the Nauet Mall and you better have your GPS to find it or pre-Google the directions.

“The BEST Indian food I know of”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

I lived in India for some years, and know what end is up, as they say. GREAT dishes including many south India rice-based dishes (uttapum, dosa, idli sambar etc). The chutneys are good. Have never had a bad dish here. Their weekend and daily buffets are a great deal. My only complaint (exactly as in INdia!) the masala chai is 'overstewed'--they leave the tea in too long--but even that makes it seem like being in India. Majority of customers are usually Indian--that's the whole story right there. Decor ho-hum; but go for the food and you'll forget the decor...

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

I appreciate maybe somebody had a buffet here and it had its issues on a lunchtime - well we went on a Wednesday evening and the food was first class, the staff great and it had a really authentic atmosphere too. Can only say great things about the pride taken in the food and it had me quite amazed how good it was - I am a British curry fan so that takes some doing! Enjoy!

“This is worth your time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

We have dined at Karavalli several times. Each time we have left pleased with both the food and the service. The decor is pretty which is important to us because it enhances the experience; the service is friendly and well timed. The choices range from various meats (chicken, lamb, goat) to both vegetarian and vegan. The herbal and spice usage is never overpowering so that you can enjoy the subtlties of good Indian cusine.

The noise level is low so that conversation is easy.

It is worth your time.
