“In season prices, out of season service.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here this past weekend for one night (Sunday) as part of a 30th birthday celebration from my boyfriend.

Loved the nautical themed rooms and outdoor area as well as the balcony and pool. A shout out to John who was working the front desk in the evening as he was friendly and attentive.

Was incredibly disappointed by the level of service - the servers in the dining room were quite nice but didn't seem to know anything about the food or wine. We were served a room temperature bottle of wine and then offered a half filled bucket of ice to chill. The meal was ok - the standout was the heirloom tomato salad which was delicious but the tuna dish was subpar.

Service at the bar was slow considering the place was nearly empty.

As a local from Westhampton I understand that things quiet down in the off season but if you are offering such subpar service you should either lower your prices or just close up Labor Day weekend.

Having read some of the prior reviews of this Resort, I was somewhat apprehensive in what was waiting for my family and I. Possibly the wong time of the year to be visiting the Yacht Club, although I am not sure whichj, if any, is the shoulder season. The room charge was very expensive, higher than any place I have stayed, and that leaves open a very wide range of places and prices.

However, we did have rooms located alongside the Marina itself and next door to the Restaurant, Bar and Pool, so this was an A+ and the room was not pretencious but still short of the price charged. It did, however, give us easy access to all the amenities including the Tennis Courts. Breakfast was a buffet style, fairly decent selection but still in need of an upgrade to validate a four star, or even three star rating. That said it was adequate for our needs.

The staff, from reception to bus boy, all were exceptionally helpful, kudos all around.

This is a place to go and chill, some notables could be seen amongst the guests but they must have enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere with nobody bothering them. A casual walk down the various docks will amaze you with boats from all areas moored alongside each other, from 20' to 150', amazing.

All told, over the top pricing, need to find out when they offer better deals, but a very worthwhile visit.

The Club was decent enough - clean, rooms were nice, but it didn't wow me. Didnt find anything spectacular about it. Possibly because we had recently been to upstate New York where we had an incredible stay in a really cute place, and I had higher expectaions.

It was our first and only visit to the Hamptons. It was mid-March so still a bit chilly. Drove out from NYC and found the place reasonably quick with the assistance of GPS. We were welcomed and had our room - it had a great view of the water and a little ground floor balcony. If the weather were nicer, it would have been amazing. But it was too chilly to venture outside (possibly another reason the trip was just "average").

We didnt spend much time exploring here.

On a side note, we got this trip through a Gilt City deal. I cant remember how much it was for the weekend, but it was about 1/3 off compared to their average deals - also keeping in mind it was low season.

Would probably find a different place to stay if we went back, not because there was anything wrong with this resort but because I prefer something more quaint and cute when going to a place like the Hamptons.

We had a beautiful week during July 4th. We booked this as a last minute thing, because we had originally been booked at Wequawsett Resort in Cape Cod (see my separate review) which we escaped because it was so bad. They only had a standard room at a rate of under $350 per night. It was room 229. I couldn't believe how fantastic it was. Large, view of the water, terrace with lounge chairs, clean, well-appointed in every way, comfortable king bed, huge walk-in closet. I would go back there in a second. Get the beach pass and drive to Dirt Plains Beach for one of the best beaches in the world.
Thank you Montauk Yacht Club for saving our July 4th holiday.

Room Tip: We loved room 229 which they consider a standard room and has great rates. Ask for the second floor...

We have stayed at many marinas with resorts attached. This place has beautiful facilities that are inconsistently maintained. On a Sunday morning the bathroom and dock have filthy water on the floor, pizza boxes in bins, no toilet paper or paper towels in bathroom. It seems to attract a mixed crowd, some are quiet nice families, others are groups of men who seem to auditioning for a a reality TV show and gesturing and parading around trying to see who can be the loudest and most obnoxious. All this and it is very expensive.

Worst and rudest restaurant and resort, i have ever been in my life.
We arrived the resort in the afternoon and I contacted the restaurant host face to face and see their dining room and made a reservation for 6 people for dinner in their fine dinning restaurant .
When we came to the restaurant, we are seated in a different room which was in between kitchen service area and dinning room. The room we were seated was seperated from the dinning room with glass windows, and walls and we were the only guests seated there and there were lots of empty tables in the dining room. It was very strange and I refused to sit in this strange and funy place. As an answer the service manager told me that this is the place we shoud sit and if we do not want, we are free in not eating in their restaurant in a very rude manner. I told him that we are staying in their resort and I can not make a reservation in another restaurant in the town at that late hour for 6 people. He was very stressed and angry with me, he started to increase level of his voice and I could not convince him.
Without any option we had our dinner in that strange, isolated area.More than half of the dinning room was empty whole night, it was like a joke. Afterall food was very bad, environment was very bad service was very bad..we paid a very high bill both for this very bad dinner and also for the rooms.
I filled in a complaint form telling about the very bad experience we had during the dinner. No one contacted me ..
The other night we were out for dinner in the town and there were lots of people waiting for a table in front of the fish restaurants out of this resort And I understood why the restaurant of the resort was empy whole night... most probably people know how bad is this resort in terms of service and food.
I do not think that such companies, who allow their employees treat their guests in such a rude manner can survive in the long run....especially in hospitality sector.
I strongly recommend not to go to this resort.

We traveled here for a family trip and brought our boat and booked a room; given that it is Montauk in prime summer I was not entirely surprised to have been asked to pay $600/night, which is what I have paid at Ritz-Carltons and other high-end properties throughout the world. First a word about the service, which is really sub-standard. Waitresses are inattentive and poorly trained, the front desk in clearly overworked and overwhelmed and the lifeguard at the pool spent the duration of our visit talking on her cell phone. The Spa was old and dirty and the woman at the front desk, who was taking personal calls on arrival and departure, clearly couldn't be bothered to pick up a paper cup that was left on the floor 3 feet away.

As many other reviewers have stated, the rooms are nothing special and in some state of disrepair; we had a broken faucet in both the sink and bathtub and it was clear that the hotel made no effort to freshen things up periodically. We had a waterview room in the Villa section of the hotel, which was close to the playground, which would have been better had it not been for the sewage that had backed up on the adjacent lawn during our visit.

This hotel clearly has a spectacular location on its side and clearly has no trouble booking up during the peak summer vacation months. But if you are shelling out top dollar to stay here you should know that you are getting nothing special for your money.

Room Tip: Villa rooms are nice as are the Bungalow rooms, which have a spacious outdoor area (helpful if you a...
