“Hiking near the Point”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013 via mobile

We spent a Saturday afternoon hiking the Camp Hero trails. We parked near the old radar station which is huge. Took a trail to the bluffs with a great lighthouse view. Then we took The Battery 113 trail which was amazing. There were wooden bridges over creeks on the trail, gently rolling hills and the hike took less than a hour. We also visited the bunkers which housed the WWII 16 inch guns which were amazing.

It was cold so ticks were less a problem than during the summer but the whole area is full of ticks so be prepared

“Great Views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

Been traveling to Montauk for over 30 years. I never knew this was there. It has some great views of the ocean and lighthouse. We were there in time for a beautiful sunset.

“Maybe for the patriotic?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

I didn't really get Camp Hero. Maybe I didn't really see it clearly. There didn't really seem to be much there, except for the parking lot and a couple of trails without much adventure in them. The one nice thing is the views of the ocean. You are basically atop the hoodoos which are majestic and one of the most beautiful and often ignored features of the Montauk area, but which are best (and most safely) seem from the ocean side.

“Creepy + Gorgeous”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

Beautiful pristine place, sits on an ocean bluff. Still felt strange and creep, but enjoyed it anyway. Great view of the lighthouse.

“Beware the ticks”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

Hard to relax and enjoy a walk when you are constantly advised there are ticks around! Nice walk and views of the coast, but not much to the military side of things. Lots of vandalism which is really sad.
