Owner description: Museum Village is a living history museum preserving a vast collection of eclectic, 19th century artifacts for educational purposes. Using these artifacts and reproductions, we provide hands-on experiences and exhibits illustrating the transition from a rural to an industrial culture and economy in America, provoking thought and discussion about history. Exhibits include blacksmith shop, weaving, farm life, candle shop, firehouse, school house, log cabin, energy and the environment and a complete mastodon skeleton (only 1 of 3 in the entire world!). Special events include a Gem & Mineral Show, Summer Tours, a Civil War re-enactment (Labor Day Weekend), No Scare Halloween, Thanksgiving Tasting & Christmas In The Village.

“Museum Village 2012 ~ Awesome! Absolutely Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

Visiting Museum Village is my way of going back into time and really, really enjoying it. Being a Civilian civil war reenactor, I am able to enjoy the benefits of such a terrific resource in my very own community. There are many, many events that are awesome to attend. Fire Fighter's Day when all the local fire departments join the Museum to proudly show off their own prize antique & modern Fire Trucks. The Annual Civil War Weekend - kids and adults are witness to the Union and Confederate reenactors as they skirmish and re-live life during the civil war era. This years reenactment was AWESOME! Everyone in my group had a Ball! We are already looking foward to next years reenactment! In the Winter, we enjoy...."Christmas at the Village" Weekend, which is always a delight with many strolling carolers, hot pretzels, chestnuts roasting (on an open fire!), and special holiday performances. These are just to name a few of the special events the Museum holds all year round at Museum Village. Be sure to check their website for ongoing and/or upcoming events and the hours of operation as it varies during the time of year........I am always enchanted by what each building has to offer. They have such a diverse collection of artifacts on display dating from the mid 19th century to the early 20th century. And what is even more amazing, is the amount of artifacts that are not on display due to lack of space and proper conditions. The entire Museum is Family friendly and great for young children, as well as adults. (Don't forget to stop by and pet/ feed the live animals!)

The very professional staff and friendly volunteers are always bustling about with seamless effort making improvements and working as guardians of our history. Enjoy a Live play/show in their playhouse.Living History at its finest awaits you at Museum Village.Free Parking TOO!

This is a museum that must be seen by young and old!

“Playhouse - great experience”

Tiny old fashioned play house in this restored village. Served pie and ice cream at intermission. Would do it again.

Been a member for many years and took my kids there until grown...I myself first went there over 50 years ago...Sadly the place is underutilized and needs more support....The staff IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL, HELPFUL AND DEDICATED...Love this place...

“Historic Village”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

The Museum Village is interesting since it is historic but there is not that much to see there so I was disappointed. You can easily see the entire village in 1 1/2 hours. I thought the price was somewhat high.
